Since Veritas Palace was under strict protection, Matthew only allowed the nobles to bring their spouses and forbade other families from entering the palace.
It was not that he did not trust all the noble families in Veritas, but Matthew thought it would be easier for him and the soldiers to control the guests if there were not too many of them.
"Do you think the other nobles will like me?" Ruby whispered as she stood at the door of the ballroom. She asked the soldier at the door to give her time to prepare her mental first. "I've only talked much to three nobles."
Ruby was not even sure if Count Lyndone liked her after she scolded him for being too strict with Averly. But she had no regrets because Averly's future was worth defending.
"After seeing you interact with some of the nobles in Veritas, I think you'll be fine." Matthew gripped Ruby's hand tightly. "Besides, you're too sweet to hate."
