"Then, I want to sleep now!"
Matthew had to hold Edda tightly as she tried to jump down. He didn't know that a child could change their mood in a short time. Before this, she could not stop crying, but now she became more excited.
"Alright, let me put you to bed," said Matthew.
Before he could walk further, Edda tried to reach something on the bookshelf beside her. "But I want to hear a bedtime story before I sleep."
Before meeting Edda, Ruby had asked her maid what things the little girl liked. Besides sweet cakes, pretty ribbons, and rabbits, she also loved to hear a bedtime story before she went to sleep.
Ruby was only guessing, but maybe Edda loved hearing a bedtime story because she wanted someone to keep her company before she fell asleep. The bedroom must have seemed so spacious for a child who used to live in a small house, that she wouldn't be able to sleep if she left alone.
