Ruby tightened Lucas's fur coat, making sure no cold air would freeze his skin once he stepped out of the palace doors.
Lucas giggled when he saw his sister treating him so gently. "Ruby, I'm a soldier. A snowstorm like this won't be enough to kill me."
"I know, but a blizzard can still freeze your skin. You've traveled so far without resting, that I'm sure you don't have enough energy to make a magic shield from Veritas to Wridal."
"I never use a magic shield when traveling."
Ruby frowned, then chuckled inwardly as she realized that a werewolf like Lucas was different from herself.
"Back off. I don't want you exposed to the cold when I open the door," Lucas asked.
Ruby listened to him without saying anything. Even so, her gaze at Lucas still looked pitiful.
"Are you sure you're leaving?" asked her for the umpteenth time.
Lucas smiled. "If you question that one more time, I probably won't be able to open this door."
