"Edda?" Ruby nearly choked as she tried to hold back her anger. "How dare you mention her name again after killing her mother. Sir Doran, you have no right to ask for her safety."
Edda's mother, Norvella Leigh, died because Doran left his ring in her house. The ring contained teleportation magic that caused Norvella to accidentally travel to the secret organization's headquarters in the Imperial Capital, so she had to be killed to hide their existence.
Although Doran did not kill her with his own hands, he was at least the main reason for the death of an innocent woman.
"I know." Doran lowered his eyes and his voice trembled. "I just hope she can have a better life. But if you adopt her, she can finally live in an environment more suitable for children. Maybe her mother's death-"
