Matthew carried Ruby in his arms and ran after Rollos, who ran ahead of them. The golden dragon led them through the cracked sky and ground. After Aurey's soul left the realm, the place became unbalanced and tried to expel all souls that had not died to maintain its balance.
If they did not leave immediately, their souls would be trapped in the realm and their bodies would die.
"Where are we going?!" shouted Matthew to Rollos.
"Just shut up and follow me!" Rollos assured him, "Don't worry. Your mother also ordered me to get you out of this place alive."
After completing his final task, Rollo's soul would no longer be bound to Aurey. He had no obligation to serve her descendants, but at least he would never let his master's descendants die on his watch.
"Matthew," Ruby called to her husband in a low voice. She held her chest, which suddenly felt painful as if the heart inside her body could no longer support her life. "It hurts."
