Ruby's heart raced as she stared at Liliana, her eyes wide with disbelief after hearing her sister's words. Her hand slowly loosened its grip on Liliana's hair.
"You must be lying," Ruby whispered, her voice trembling as if she could somehow undo their meaning by uttering the words.
She repeatedly replayed Liliana's words in her head and hoped they didn't contain the negative connotations she suspected. Unfortunately, the meaning of the words never changed, even if Ruby wanted to.
Liliana clicked her tongue and smoothed down the messy hair that Ruby had grabbed. The look in her eyes was indifferent as if she wanted to declare to Ruby that she did not care about her at all.
"I will never falsify the words of the Moon Goddess," Liliana retorted.
If she were to use the Moon Goddess to lie, then the heavens would instantly strike her dead. Hence, she couldn't possibly lie to Ruby this time.
