As Matthew said, the magic stone did not take long to consume Ruby's blood. The stinging in her hand gradually began to disappear, replaced by a warmth that made her feel comfortable.
"This way, the magic stone has recognized you as its master. Even if someone else takes this dagger, the dagger will not be able to harm you." Matthew held the dagger's handle. "Do you want me to try it on you? Don't be scared. I won't let this dagger hurt you if something goes wrong."
Ruby smiled gently. "I trust you."
After getting permission from his wife, Matthew picked up the dagger, then threw it quickly at Ruby. In that split second, Ruby neither closed her eyes nor ran away in fear, as she trusted that Matthew would protect her if the dagger malfunctioned.
