They cut off Liber's fingers and toes one by one using a blunt object so he would be in great torment and pain. He even was forced to eat so that he could survive, so his torture could last for a very long time.
Unfortunately, the food was also in poor condition. Sometimes Liber was forced to eat raw beans, and sometimes he had to eat disgusting porridge that was almost stale. Every time Liber vomited his food, the soldiers would force him to eat his own vomit.
