Ruby closed her eyes because she could no longer read the letter from Ariana's perspective. "So, what happened to Ariana? Can you summarize the contents of her letter?"
Lucas nodded. He didn't want to force Ruby to read the letter from Ariana because he did not want his sister to be sick again.
"Miss Barclay became the Marquess' favored maid. He would usually take Miss Barclay to one of the rooms in the mansion in the night." Lucas' eyes seemed to darken as he said, "Their relationship going on for three months, and Miss Barclay ended up pregnant with his child."
When Ariana found out about her pregnancy, she became panicked and scared because people would consider her a despicable woman if she gave birth without a husband. She did not want her mother to bear the shame and did not want her child to be born without a father.
