Ruby held Matthew's arm carefully as she looked closely at the wound on his skin. Her expression still looked sad, and her hands trembled as she helped Matthew wrap the bandage around his arm.
"Ruby, sweetheart." Matthew held Ruby's hand and lifted her chin so their eyes could meet. "I'm not dying, so you don't have to be sad."
"I know you are not dying from just one lash. However, I still feel sad seeing you hurt like this." Ruby bit her lip firmly as she felt tears about to fall from her eyes. "I'm sorry. You had to get hurt because of me."
Matthew held Ruby's cheek and raised her chin slightly to stop her from biting her lip again. His eyes looked angry after he heard Ruby's apology. "I did that of my own will. Therefore, you shouldn't blame yourself. Besides, I also wanted to know the pain that you had in the past."
Ruby, "Why?"
