"You look beautiful, sweetheart." Matthew stood behind Ruby. He held her shoulders and stroked them gently to calm her chaotic heart. "I'm sure no one will dare to demean you in court."
Ruby curved her smile and said, "I'm really nervous, Matthew. I'm afraid the count won't go smoothly."
Matthew lowered his head, inhaling the peach scent that came from Ruby's hair and skin. He whispered next to Ruby's ear, "You just need to trust your husband. I will never let you down."
