Ruby walked quickly into the dungeon together with Matthew. Ever since Basen had met Maulvi, he had been filled with anger and resentment, so Ruby was afraid he would kill the maid before they could interrogate her.
When they arrived at the dungeon, Ruby sighed a breath of relief when she saw Basen standing in front of the jail. His hair and clothes were still dirty with white snowflakes, and his facial expression looked dark.
His red eyes stared at the woman sitting inside the jail. Her hair looked messy, and her clothes were filled with rips from being scratched by tree branches. Her whole body trembled, and she kept her head down as she dared not meet the demon beast's gaze.
"Basen," Ruby tapped Basen on the shoulder from behind, making him immediately turn his head and soften his gaze. "You've worked hard. You can rest for a while."
