"Did you pity her?" asked Ruby.
"No." Basen drew the window curtains slightly so that he could peer at the snow falling from the sky. "But I loved her."
At that moment, when the poison had destroyed all the villagers' bodies, Basen transformed himself into a human again. His eyes looked sharp as he looked at Viviana, who was trembling in fear.
Viviana sat on the ground, her clothes dirty from trying to crawl away, but the swirl of blood always blocked her. Her pupils moved in random directions, and she couldn't stop crying.
"Please, forgive me, Sir." Viviana's voice trembled as she tried to crawl backward. "I was wrong because I was trying to disturb you."
Basen did not heed Viviana's words; his footsteps sounded steady as he walked toward Viviana.
"Viviana, I am not a good person." Basen claimed, "And I'm also not the type of beast that would let my prey live."
"Didn't you like me?!" Viviana shouted for her life, trying to find Basen's weak point to save herself.
