"Oh, madam, you said in your letter that you had an urgent matter and wanted to ask for my help. What can I do for you?"
Ruby gripped the teacup in her hand as soon as she heard Basen's question. Her tongue lolled for a while as her heart still felt hesitant to ask Basen for something complicated.
Perhaps asking for one scale was not a big deal, but Ruby thought she would burden Basen's heart if she asked for so many scales.
Others might not be able to tell, but Ruby could see that there was always a color of sadness in Basen's heart whenever he talked about his scales. Even when he said that he sold his own scales to capture the Demon Fox, a blue-colored aura surrounded Basen's body.
"Madam? Why are you silent?" asked Basen confusedly. He tilted his head, trying to look at Ruby's face, which was slightly downcast.
Ruby closed her eyes for a moment and took a deep breath before saying, "Basen, I want to ask you something."
