Ruby sighed and smiled softly. "Alright, just make sure not to work until late at night."
"I will remember it, Your Majesty."
After making sure Averly heard what she said, Ruby immediately walked away to her bedroom. Her sleepy eyes closed slightly, and she couldn't stop yawning the whole way.
She must have lived a lazy life too long to feel exhausted just from working for a bit.
The corridors at Veritas Palace looked very dark at night. The maids had deliberately turned off the oil lamps to prevent a fire, so the only light illuminating the corridors came from the moonlight coming in from outside the windows.
Ruby wasn't afraid of the dark, but she didn't like it either. Darkness always reminded Ruby of when Marquess Barnette often locked her in the basement, so Ruby stepped quickly to get to the room.
However, Ruby gasped in surprise when a hand tapped her shoulder. She almost screamed if she didn't hear a familiar voice in her ear.
