"Because the demon ants can't move when in a deficient temperature environment," Liviana replied.
Based on geography, Veles City was at a higher altitude than Trigas City, so the temperature in Veles City can be as cold as minus five degrees Celsius from Trigas.
According to Liviana's explanation, Ruby heard that the demon ants always avoided places that were too cold and preferred to make nests underground when winter came.
In other words, Ruby could confirm that someone deliberately spread demon ants into Trigas and Veles City to harm many people in Veritas because the demon ants would never come out of their nests in winter unless someone released them.
