Stephanie was already done with high school ,she was just waiting the exam results to see if she was qualified to enter the university ,she already has a driver's license and had a car that her grandparents gifted her on her eighteenth birthday.
There was a charity event in the orphanage,it was meant to collect my money and other donations from the well wishes, the event was meant to take place at the orphanage, Stephen and his family would also be attending.
Stephen went to the office earlier ,he had work to finish before going to the orphanage,he requested his father to go the office and help him finish the work , Patrick couldn't refuse , the company was his hard work for many years and he still wanted his son to be there.
Cloe and the children would pick Stephen up from the office , there had to appear in the orphanage as a family ,it was the same case with Pauline , she was going to pick up her husband before proceeding to the orphanage.
Cloe , Stephanie , Beatrice and John were ready , they all went out of the house expecting to see the driver waiting for them with the car ready but were suprised when they didn't only have the driver but also the car.
"What happened , why is the driver not here?"John was the one who asked ,he looked at Beatrice but she immediately shook her head ,it was also the same case with Stephanie,John looked at his mother but she didn't shook her head as the rest has done.
"Stop looking at me like that , I don't know anything,"Cloe said to her son ,"why don't Stephanie drive us to pick your father up ,we will be late if we wait any longer,"Cloe suggested .
"Am not a driver!"Stephanie replied after staring at her for a while,"Mr butler !"John shoute at the top of his voice but he doubted if the butler would hear him calling for him but he was suprised to see the butler emerge from the door immediately he called.
"Did you know that I was going to call you and you were just waiting behind the door?"John asked the butler,"what are you bothering him for ,let him go back to his work,"Cloe suggested , John immediately sensed something wrong.
He didn't want to believe it but his sixth sense was telling him that the driver and the car absence was definitely his mother's doing ,if that wasn't the case why could she ask the butler to leave even if he wasn't done talking to him.
"He isn't going anywhere,"John answered on behalf of the butler,he blocked him that his mother wouldn't see him,"where did the driver go?"John asked after he was sure that his mother wasn't able to see her mother's face.
"Madam asked me to call him and tell me that he was on leave today,"the driver replied,"you can go now,"John said to him , the butler hurriedly went away, John looked at his mother and shook his head negatively.
"I thought that you already changed,"Beatrice said before John would get a chance to say anything, Cloe didn't say anything ,she knew that she has been caught, Stephanie thought about the situation ,she didn't want to be late,she got into the house and come out later with her car keys.
"I will drive , let's get going,"Stephanie said , Beatrice was the first one to follow her then John , Cloe also attempted to follow when John turned are and looked at her,"where are you going mother?"he went ahead and asked her.
"What do you mean where am going ,of course am going where the rest of you are going ,"Cloe replied,"it's your fault that the driver didn't come today , you can go ahead and call the driver to tell him to come drive you or drive yourself or call a cab,"John advised her , Cloe stood staring at her son , John saw his mother's reaction and left.
Cloe was left alone standing , she regretted her decision of giving the driver the day off , she couldn't ask him to come now , she was already late ,she thought of driving herself but that's was very tiring,she decided to call a cab ,she looked through her contact list and realized that she didn't have any cab driver's contact.
She got into the house and asked the butler to call a cab for her, the driver called a cab , the driver said that he was on his way ,the driver was taking too long that Cloe started being impatient,she was sure that the others would have left her husband's office before she arrived.
She wanted to ask the butler to call the cab again and ask them to hurry up when she heard a car horning,she hurriedly took her purse and left immediately, she boarded the car and gave the address of the place that he was supposed to take her and urged her to drive immediately.
"Why did you stop your mother from coming with us ?"Stephanie asked suddenly ,"why ,are you feeling pity for her?"John asked her , Stephanie kept quiet ,she wasn't going pity for her but she wouldn't say so to them ,she was still their mother.
"Don't feel guilty ,she deserved whatever happened to her ,if someone doesn't make her see her mistake she will always repeat them, what John did was very right,"Beatrice said ,she loved Stephanie like her big sister she didn't understand why her mother couldn't get along with her.
They arrived at their father's office but he wasn't out yet , they called him and he asked them to wait for him for a little while, Pauline also arrived ,she greeted them and asked them about their father and grandfather ,they told her that they have already called Stephen and he asked them to wait for them.
She decided to stay and wait while chatting with the both of them , Pauline was genuinely happy ,she now had three grandchildren , she loved all of them.
