Chereads / The Infamous Lillian Brown / Chapter 3 - Mr. Stranger

Chapter 3 - Mr. Stranger

Taking one last glance at myself, I smiled. I looked glamorous, like the Cinderella of my dreams. As the tips of my fingers grazed my jaw, making their way to my nose, I beamed again.

Listening to my phone ring, I quickly grasped it. It was Nathaniel.

"He's here," I said, looking at Emma, half asleep. "How do I look."

"Go get 'em, tiger," she murmured, hugging me. "If anything happens, call me. I'll be staying at my parent's house for the night."

"Love you," I said.

"Love you too," she replied.

Heading out of the building, I felt ecstatic but worried. As I saw Nathaniel leaning against his red BMW, I forgot everything negative that surrounded me.

Happily, I walked over to him.

"Hey, Nathen," I said, warmly smiling.

"Hi," he replied in a slightly shocked tone.

Almost as if he didn't know it was me.

"So, Uhm, should we get going," I asked, walking over to the passenger door.

"Yeah, we should," he whispered, getting in the car.

As planned, the entire car ride was quiet since I had nothing to say to him, and he probably had nothing to say to me. Sacred of embarrassing myself, I just kept silent.

Arriving at the location, I was stunned at how luxurious the interior was. The typed of high-end restaurants I would only dream of going to when I was a child.

As we made our way up the stairs, the view became clear. The beach looked so vast, and the people so small.

"Here is your table," said the waitress, seating us by a table near the window.

"Thank you," I said, seeing Nathaniel pull out a chair for me.

"Only for the most beautiful," he responded, making me blush. "You look pretty today."

Caught off guard by his words, I almost choked on my cup of water.

"Thank you," I said, slightly chuckling to remove the embarrassment.

"Sorry for saying that so suddenly, " said Nathaniel. "I couldn't contain myself. Who would've thought Riverview Highschool's nerd would become a goddess."

"I'm right," I said, laughing at his statement.

Soon this awkward air slowly became dense, allowing me to speak freely. Everything that Nathaniel would say sounded beautiful. A masculine but sweet tone, the type of voice that could lull you to sleep.

"Are you listening, Lilian," he asked. "You can't stare at me all day, Lillian."

Attending to his words, I quickly looked away, seeing him laugh. His perfect jaw, white teeth, and blue eyes were a sight to anyone who dared to venture.

Embarrassed by the moment, I dropped my glass of water, accidentally spoiling my dress. Grabbing a piece of tissue tried to dry the spot.

"I'm sorry, I'm just heading to the restroom for a couple of seconds," I said, hurriedly getting up from my seat.

Practically running to the restroom, I grabbed a piece of paper to wipe down the dress. Looking in the mirror to see if it was a large spill. A sigh of relief left my mouth.

Exiting the restroom, I bumped into a man. Instantly a strange sensation ran through my body. Glancing up to see his face, I was enchanted. His eyes, a bright gold, directly caught my attention. Why did he seem so familiar?

"Are you okay, ma'am," he asked.

"Yes," I said, not taking a look at him.

"I wouldn't mind you staring, ma'am, but your date would have something else in mind," said the strange man.

"Sorry," I replied, quickly walking away.
