Kimi could sense the presence of someone lurking nearby who did not have ill intent directed towards her like the others.
Since she was already being stopped by a group of Psychics, the only options available was to fight or run away.
Running away from Psychics was quite difficult due to their sharp senses and if they had a Psychic Pokémon to order around then it was even more tricky.
So many Psychic abilities had differing effects that could halt or hinder her own movements if she did try to run.
It was even worse that their accuracy would be much higher than others so there was less of a chance of Kimi dodging their attacks.
She may have been able to anticipate certain actions and predict some things using Aura but when faced with a Psychic, there was always a chance of a Psychic predicting her responses to their attacks and adjusting them to not allow their attack to miss.
It would come down to who could out predict the other and win in a fast paced battle of who could out manoeuvre the other.
It would be fine if she just had to out predict one trainer and their Pokémon but it was much more difficult when there were many more to deal with.
Among those who confronted her was a face she remembered all too well from some time ago.
They were the ones who came to make trouble at the Karate Dojo and the person standing at the front was the same person who defeated Mitsuwa.
Kimi did not mind battling him previously but in such a public place with so many interests involved, it could quickly turn even worse and would bring more harm to the Karate Dojo.
She dealt with it in a way that would deescalate the situation and have it resolved smoothly but it seemed that was not enough to stop them from coming directly to her when she was alone.
A cold smile appeared on her lips as they laughed and taunted her. 'Did they think I would be scared? A bunch of older boys.. surrounding a girl who has yet to turn eleven. They even seem quite proud of themselves.'
It ticked her off that they were being so arrogant and triumphant that they had been able to catch her once she left the city. "Fine.. if it is a battle you want then how about an open field battle with one on one or two on two battle rules?"
Upon hearing their further taunts, Kimi pointed out towards the other presence she could feel with her Aura nearby. "I pick her as my partner."
A head popped out with a look of shock from a nearby hiding place and waved their hands dramatically in front of themself.
Their facial expression clearly showed that they were uncertain about participating in the battle.
Kimi recognised the person as the girl she had seen on the streets who was a street performer. 'So it is that mime girl.'
The others around her let out a gloating laugh and the leader among them let out a gloating tone as he commented. "Do you really want that defective goods as your partner? Good. Take her!"
It seemed like he was relieved once he saw that the person Kimi chose to rely on for support was Dannii.
He clearly looked down on her for various reasons and had even gone as far as calling her defective which made Dannii lower her head in frustration in a way that made it look like she was used to suppressing and trying to hide her emotions when she was hurt by the words of others.
The leader of the group motioned towards her in a cold voice. "This should be fun. Not one annoyance but two I can deal with all at once. Get over there and try to help her."
A cold smirk appeared on his faced as his victory over Kimi and Dannii was assured.
He believed that Kimi was much too young to have enough experience as a trainer while Dannii was still a beginner as a Psychic and only had one Pokémon to use.
Everyone knew how she usually kept to herself and worked diligently but in the eyes of some like him, she was someone who did not fit into her environment and was a bother to most people around her due to nobody being able to properly communicate with her.
Dannii was practically dragged out by his group and pushed towards Kimi then Kimi reached out towards her. "Do not worry. Just do what you can."
Dannii nodded nervously as she reached towards her Pokéball but she held onto it for a moment as if fearful of harm coming to her partner.
Kimi's voice came from behind. "Trust me. We can win."
Kimi disliked how the others spoke about Dannii and how they were being.
It seemed like it was not the first time they had let out such words loud enough for Dannii to overhear them.
Although she did not know Dannii all that well or her life story, she could still sense that there was a weak Psychic energy fluctuating in her body weaker than the others.
Perhaps Dannii would be worrying about many things like how it would affect her afterwards or if there came any harm to her Pokémon and what she should do.
There was a little anxiety and hesitation within Dannii so Kimi made the first move.
Her Pokéball was thrown out releasing Espeon, if she was going to fight a Psychic then she would use the chance to let Espeon gain experience from her opponents.
She turned her head towards Dannii who was looking away and hesitating still. "It is too late now. Sorry for getting you involved but they must have already noticed you."
Her meaning was that Dannii may not have gotten away with watching from afar even if she tried to remain hidden.
For those that were up to no good, they would surely dislike having witnesses around even if it was her who could have less of a chance of telling others about what they were doing.
If she witnessed everything and they picked up that she was around then her future relationship with them would become even worse even without Kimi pulling her into it.
She did not hide herself all that well and all it took was for one of the people in the area to make a quick sweep of the area using their Psychic powers to find her there.
As if coming to understand that was the case and that it had probably started all because she had decided to follow them, Danni no longer showed any hesitation and threw out her Pokéball. "Mime mime!" "Espeon!"
Mr Mime was released alongside Espeon while two Slowpokes were released from the other side. "Sloow."
There was a look of confusion on the face of the people opposite who had seen Espeon being released by Kimi. "What is.."
They could sense the Psychic energy coming from the small jewel on its head which let them know that Espeon was a Psychic Pokémon. "Whatever.. she is not a Psychic. She cannot bring out its full potential."
They were not as knowledgeable about every Pokémon and especially did not know that there existed one like Espeon that was a Psychic type.
They were mainly caught off guard by its appearance and the fact that someone affiliated with the Karate Dojo had trained a Psychic Pokémon too.
Most others belonging to that place rarely had any other types and mainly focussed towards training their fighting types and those who had fighting moves too.
As much of a shock it was that Kimi had one, it did not change anything for them.
They still believed that they had the advantage since there were many things that Kimi could not do.
Kimi may have been a trainer of a Psychic Pokémon but she was not a full fledged Psychic Pokémon trainer like them who could utilise their own Psychic abilities along with their own Pokémon to gain an advantage over many trainers.
They did not even need to speak to give out their orders to begin the battle when both Slowpoke started making their move.
Dannii seemed to have done the same as if being fast to prepare a response to their attack. 'Go Mimie!'
Through her Psychic connection to Mr Mime, she relayed her own instructions just like the others.
Two waves of Psychic energies came crashing towards Mr Mime and Espeon but Mr Mime was fast enough to raise up its hands in response. "Mime!"
It moved out its hands towards the incoming wave of Psychic energy that came towards it then its movements started to change slightly as it became more unpredictable in how it moved.
Mr Mime used Protect which caused the chances of the enemy attack to hit it to lower while it focussed all its own focus towards dodging to the best of its abilities.
Each movement was like it was putting on a comical performance which was full of various twists and turns allowing it to avoid harm in the last moment.
Meanwhile the other wave of Psychic energy was sent towards Espeon who was sitting there unguarded and looking casual about the battle it was in.
The hair on its body raised up a little before it leapt to the side avoiding the difficult to see waves of Psychic energies.
With very nimble movements it had leapt away avoiding everything completely without even getting a single bit of damage to its small body.
It licked it paw looking bored before turning its head towards the two Slowpokes with a look of clear disdain in its proud eyes. "Espeon.."
Both Psychic trainers were shocked to see their attack so easily avoided but they did not give up on following up with attacks right away.
What they did not know was that they had already greatly misjudged the situation they were in.
Since Kimi was able to leave some things for Dannii to handle, she was able to let Espeon adjust to the battle even without her constant guidance.
If her own guidance through the use of Aura had been applied on top of Espeon's natural senses towards predicting danger then they would be much more dangerous.
Water was fired in the direction of Espeon followed by Psychic attacks that kept trying to adjust the trajectory of the water causing it to almost chase after Espeon but its natural agility and predictive combat abilities let it manoeuvre through the grassy terrain with ease avoiding all kinds of harm.
Mr Mime was constantly putting up its best efforts to avoid everything but was occasionally hit before sending out weak Psychic attacks of its own towards one of the Slowpokes.
Its use of Confusion had hit once but had not been all that successful towards lessening their chances to fail in their attacks any more than they were already doing.
Just as Mr Mime was knocked back a little, a small figure leapt out avoiding another Psychic attack before gathering up Psychic energy of its own which was released in the form of a beam.
A Psybeam shot out towards the Slowpoke hitting it on target before it had the time to respond causing it to get pushed backwards and be harmed.
What was most surprising about it was that the attack came at the most opportune timing.
Both Slowpoke had just begun their attack towards Mr Mime with the intent to finish it off since they were having more success hitting it over Espeon who was much better at avoiding everything.
Without their full focus being on Espeon, it was able to position itself within a range that would better ensure its chances of a successful attack and fired off a Psybeam just in between when both bad finished one move and were preparing to send out another afterwards.
