Chapter 73 - Tyrogue

Even if the Tyrogue that Kimi had gained was lacking in some areas, it was more than enough to leave her satisfied for the time being.

An Orange talent may have seemed like a big downside for others that possessed very little resources to raise them better but Kimi had her own means of helping Tyrogue to improve itself.

The most important time for it was always going to be during the initial stages of its growth as it was being raised by her and when it was about to reward when she could make use of the potions and other useful items that she could make.

The Pokéball in her hand was thrown out and a flash out light had happened until the figure within was shown clearly standing there.

Before her eyes was a small two legged humanoid Pokémon, it had a purple skin tone with brown trunks and shoes that looked similar to someone wearing a football uniform.

It looked very determined and energetic as it ran towards the feet of Kimi then turned its eyes towards Growlithe by her side. "Ty! Ty! Tyrogue!"

It immediately saw someone that looked like a worthy opponent or rival and marched up to Growlithe then pointed towards her. "Rogue! Tyrogue!"

Growlithe let out a small growl before replying. "Growl! Growlithe! Growlithe!"

They engaged in their own talks and argument but nobody around could fully understand them.

Koichi watched their display and stated. "Tyrogue may be a good choice in a way since it is a hard worker and very serious but please remember that there may be many situations like this one. They tend to challenge anyone they deem worthy enough."

Kimi looked towards the two small figures at her feet before replying. "Mm.. it is good that it has such an attitude."

She was well aware that Tyrogue was the type to keep fighting and training until exhaustion, once it had recovered from its injuries after its losses, it would seek out its opponents that it lost to once again.

If it was frequently injured and training then a lot of trainers would have the patience for raising one and caring for it but Kimi was not one of them since she possessed enough breeder knowledge to be able to raise it well without having to purchase expensive things for it all the time and visit the Pokémon Centre.

There were some details about the moves that it had been able to use at first which Kimi had learned but she had still felt that it was required to test it out. "Sorry Growlithe but you will have to accept this time."

She felt sorry for Growlithe due to Tyrogue setting its sights on her and if things went as expected then it would continue to challenge her in the future but it was a good thing if it meant that Growlithe would see others around her improving at a fast pace.

She may have had greater talent than others but if she slacked off so soon then it would not be too long before those beneath her could one day overcome and defeat her.

She may have not known how much Kimi had favoured her and wished to keep her around but there was still some minor effects left over from being abandoned by her past trainer.

Growlithe had wished to remain as Kimi's favourite no matter what and those around her being her rivals would only further bring out her potential and would stop her from wasting her talents.

She tilted her head to the side and looked a little sad like she had been abandoned. "Growlithe?"

Kimi understood her worries enough through their connection using aura even if she did not understand her completely. "You do not need me to guide you. You should learn from these kind of experiences more so you can be more useful and improve more."

Growlithe lowered her head with a sad look on her face and refused to look towards Kimi. "…"

Kimi let out a sigh. 'I understand.. but I have to be tough otherwise she will never be able to reach her full potential and will be too reliant on me.'

She raised her hand and pointed towards Growlithe. "No treats for you if you cannot learn to share with others."

Growlithe looked up and her eyes displayed her emotions more clearly as if complaining. 'Why? Why are you getting another one? First Espeon and now this one.. are you trying to replace me?'

There was a small whimper that came from her before finally giving in since Kimi remained stern and unaffected by her pitiful display.

She stepped out onto the training mats and growled towards Tyrogue as if to acknowledge its challenge while taunting it a little. "Growlithe!"

Among the main Pokémon that Kimi had possessed and intended on keeping around her fir some time, Tyrogue was the first one among them all that was not a female.

Kimi much preferred female Pokémon as her partners but not every available Pokémon had the option to choose between male and female much like Tyrogue that could only be male.

It was not like she could so easily travel to other regions where it was more dangerous and a long way away where there could exist many dangers on the journey there.

She did not know whether the Tyrogue she had picked would be compatible with her and would fit into her current team well enough but it would have its uses for the time being.

Koichi stood to the side and said. "I will judge this little battle for you. 3…."

Kimi looked over towards Growlithe and stated. "You can only use bite and do not end the battle too early."

Growlithe looked a little upset but she had looked towards Kimi to show that she had understood.

"2..1… begin!"

Just as the countdown was running out and the battle was beginning, Kimi had connected to Tyrogue through the use of her Aura. 'Go in close for a Fake-Out!'
