Chapter 39 - Wack-a

A little more time was spent training and making some visits to the Viridian Forest and the public mining sites around Pewder City.

At night, Kimi was training her main team while at night, she was raising Grimer and Scyther to become stronger.

Meanwhile within the city, the orphanage had gained a small donation which had been left behind by old man P before he left the city.

The donation was one final gift for the children he left behind as he aimed to sever his relationship with them.

The head of the orphanage had already turned against him or was about to so he could not visit again before he had left.

Many children had lost the talented teacher that taught them so carefully over the years.

If they had such a talented teacher who nurtured them over a longer period of time then they might have become key pillars of their city or perhaps of their region if they had the potential to do so.

Unfortunately the allure of a reward and the suspicions of the head of the orphanage were leading to that connection being cut off anyway.

Kimi already knew the final outcome and that it was only a matter of time before old man P was turned over to the police so she did not feel too guilty for the connection being broken much sooner.

In her own way to make up for her interference, Kimi made a couple of visits to the orphanage so that she could drop off some treats for the kids.

Within a slightly dark cave, there was a figure running around and was followed by a couple of others.

Kimi kept her aura sense as sharp as possible while the tail of Espeon twitched a couple of times and her fur stood on end which showed how she was trying her best to detect the changes around herself.

Growlithe was able to pick up on the movements around her with the guidance of Kimi's connection to her. "Growlithe!"

As they were running around in the dark cave, the light from the flashlight in the hands of was lighting up certain areas before darkening again as the light moved to another location.

In the path of where they were walking, something had popped out of the ground and blocked their way.

Instead of tripping over it or stopping, Growlithe had jumped into the air as if she had expected it while Kimi and Espeon both stopped a little distance away.

A couple more popped out of the ground and were hit by a telekinetic wave of psychic energy as Espeon used her confusion move.

Many Diglett popped up from underneath the ground upon sensing the movements above but were hit with confusion which had been aimed towards the ground while Growlithe had jumped up into the air to avoid it.

As the psychic energy had finished being released, a couple of them were left in a slightly confused state while the rest had been hurt a little.

When Growlithe came down, she bit down onto the Diglett. "Growlithe!"

Ryhorn stomped over and its foot stomped onto the Diglett which had popped up before stepping onto the next. "Ryhorn!"

Cubone used Fling so the bone club in its hand hit a Diglett before it bounced back into the hands of Cubone then it was thrown out again. "Cubone!"

Poliwag released several bubbles in many directions which were avoided by Growlithe who had run between them.

Tangela bound the Digletts that were not in a state of confusion so they were unable to escape the continued attacks.

Swift was then use by Espeon when she had finished using Confusion so much more damage was done to those that were hit.

The moment that they had appeared, they had been sensed by Espeon and Kimi so they became targets for their assault.

Instead of a wack a mole game, it became wack a Diglett as they popped out of the ground and were quickly defeated.

Many Pokéballs were thrown out which had caught them then began another wave of attacks as Kimi and the others went on the move again through the Diglett Cave.

Kimi picked up the Pokéballs and placed them in her bag before running away to continue the attack against the Digletts and Dugtrio that were appearing.

It was one of the tasks which had been posted on the job board but it was the type of mission which would help her current situation.

The Diglett Cave was too unpredictable and full of dangers, it was much too dark for anyone to be able to navigate and avoid the rocks or other things inside.

Even if the Digletts did not come out of the ground, the environment itself was enough to cause some accidents.

With the use of Espeon's psychic abilities and Kimi's aura, those types of problems did not pose that big of a threat and instead provided a perfect training ground for them to test their abilities and gain a better mastery over them.

Such a dangerous situation had become a learning environment but also a kind of game Kimi and her Pokémon could play together.

Once Kimi had met the requirements of the task, she ran out of the cave with a bag full of captured Digletts and Dugtrio.

The range of strength the Digletts and Dugtrio had shown were between level one and level thirty but they were not able to put up much of a fight before they were attacked the moment they had emerged from under the ground.

The battles against stronger opponents helped to fuel the growth of Kimi's Pokémon even if it was just a single level or two which they had gained through their experience.

What was more valuable to Kimi was the improvement the team while gaining the reward which came with it.

Once she had left the cave and returned to Pewder City, she happily collected the reward money and increased her reputation as a bounty hunter.

More Pokemon were put on sale on the forums while she kept a lookout for various different threads that popped up on the forums.

The Pokédollars she had earned were put towards buying anything which she had on her shopping list and she was able to check up on the progress of the Feebas before she had left.
