The sun had fully risen by the time Kurosu carried Shiro on his back with ease after making him run twenty laps nonstop. Shiro was completely numb, he hadn't eaten as Kurosu had rushed him out the door for training and so his stomach felt completely empty and tight from running. He was a little grateful though as he's sure he would have vomited from the running.
Shiro writhed on the ground, his body spent and giving up on even supporting Shiro's legs to stand.
Kurosu picked him up with ease and carried him back to Ryoko.
"You reek of bile" Was the only thing Kurosu said as he held the other dragon.
"Sh-Shut Up!" Shiro groaned in pain as he
"You…were trying…to kill me!"
Shiro was panting heavily, his heart beating at a fast pace. Kurosu could feel it as he held him close to his chest.
"It's strange…you know.." Shiro said in between his breaths, "You're freezing while I feel so hot!"
Shiro wasn't wrong on that statement. It was almost the end of September and the weather was still fairly warm for the month. But Kurosu felt like he had just come out of a blizzard in the dead of winter.
"It's not as strange as it seems. I've been like this for a while…probably since I was a hatchling" Kurosu explained softly.
"Probably…?" Shiro thought how odd that sentence was but didn't dwell on it too much.
"I'm not feeling up for story time right now".
Kurosu kept up a good pace as he walked out of the forest, he could see the front gates of the town in the distance. Shiro had gone quiet but his breathing had gone back to normal after some time.
"Will be back out here later tonight when it's cooler, so prepare yourself" Kurosu stated with no emotion, still walking with Shiro in his arms.
"What!?!? Your fucking insane!! I just got my ass kicked and then almost ran myself to death!?! I swear my heart was going to explode!" Shiro panicked and started to squirm.
"Will you stay still, I will drop you and leave you here" Kurosu threatened the other as he readjusted his grip underneath Shiro's legs.
"Still! You're going to kill me at this rate!"
"This will not kill you, rest assured. I do this everyday so it clearly won't end you"
"But your fucking insane!"
"Not exactly. Kade is worse"
"You're both equally crazy if you think this is normal!"
"This is good for you. You need to become stronger in order to maximize your mana output."
Shiro rolled his head back in exasperation.
"I get it! Ok! It's just-!"
Shiro pouted. Making Kurosu scoff at the absurdity of this dragon.
"You're pouting over this? It will get easier the more you practice" Kurosu chided a bit but came across as rather stern reprimanding to Shiro
"Hmm! You're the worst teacher in the history of teachers!" Shiro scolded the taller dragon.
"Teachers job are to educate their students, not coddle"
"Atleast good teachers try to be nicer about it!"
"I AM being nice"
"If this is your nice side, I'd give you a solid 0"
"...I'm doing my best, that is far more important than being nice. You'll thank me for this when we are done."
"...whatever, don't bother me now I'm sleeping"
"Don't sleep on me! I'm not a pillow!"
Kurosu shouted and started to shake Shiro to prevent from going to sleep.
"Hey!! I didn't sleep a full 8 hours! I want some rest after what you made me do!" Shiro yelled in annoyance as he was being shaken.
"I don't even sleep a full 2 hours and I'm fine!" Kurosu flatly replied.
"What is wrong with you!?!" Shiro looked up at Kurosu, visibly disgusted.
"Clearly everything according to you." Kurosu retorted.
Shiro groaned loudly and gripped Kurosu's scarf.
"Look If you let me sleep, I'll cook you whatever you want when we get back to your place. Fair?" Shiro offered a deal to Kurosu with puppy eyes to boot.
"Why doesn't this sound more like a bribe?" Kurosu looked at him with his pupils widened a bit. Shiro remembers when likened them to a cat's eye and he still holds that belief to be true. Kurosu was interested so he took the offer of good food seriously.
"I swear to the heavens I'll be quiet the rest of the way there?" Shiro offered his crossed fingers from his left hand as a show of promise.
Kurosu looked away and then sighed in defeat.
"One noise and I will drop you." Kurosu relented.
"Fine." Shiro smiled, having gotten what he wanted.
Soon the trip back to Ryoko became completely silent. Shiro's breathing slowed down and soon he was surprisingly fast asleep in Kurosu's arms.
"Shiro Hanamura, you're both intriguing and foolish" Kurosu thought to himself, "I can't quite seem to hate you as I have others."
Kurosu continued to move but was careful to not wake Shiro, who was silent as he moved. Kurosu would catch glimpses of Shiro's face as he walked to study his face unconsciously. It was indeed attractive, with long eyelashes and thick lips. His white hair that puffed around his forehead and sides gave him an almost angelic appearance.
"Damn it, I shouldn't stare too much." Kurosu cursed at himself. "I'm far better than this. He's too damn loud for me"
Kurosu suddenly thought back to this morning when Shiro was shirtless and he witnessed Shiro's lithe and fragile body.
Kurosu went deep red and shook his head.
"Ah-! Don't have such vile thoughts Kurosu! He's not worth the effort! Bad Dragon! Bad Dragon!" Kurosu scolded himself in his head,
Hating how he let his instincts cloud his judgment.
"I need more suppressants from Kade, damnit"
Kuro facepalmed as he had thought he had passed the worst of it all.
"Oh well. I need them to function til winter comes. By Spring I'll need a stockpile and hopefully by summer, this idiot will be gone…and I can go back to normal"
Kurosu let out a sigh of relief as he had a plan to save himself from being an idiot like the one he was carrying back to his apartment.
Still sleeping soundly, completely oblivious to everything as he dreamt.
