Mr. Crawford was escorted by diligent servants through this hallway, until they stopped right in front of a door. The head servant stepped forward and opened the door, before moving out of the way, allowing Mr. Crawford to finally catch a glimpse of the living room.
Sitting right in the middle of the room was Guildmaster Leonard Hendrick, whose figure was enveloped in shadow. His expression was serious, his eyes sharp as they landed on Mr. Crawford, and he could feel the atmosphere of the room shift. Leonard's very presence commanded attention, his very demeanor demanding respect.
Mr. Crawford's mouth went dry as he swallowed hard. This was it. His gaze flickered around the room, avoiding direct eye contact as he pondered his response. Should he blame Billy? It was tempting, but it could backfire if the truth came out later. Or should he admit his own mistakes and take responsibility?
