First of all, thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for giving this book a chance! However, there are a few things I want to go over before you dive into it because a lot of people have not yet picked up on what it's about. I have been getting unnecessary hate comments when I shouldn't be getting them.
The whole point of Wait! I Wrote That? is to illustrate how my writing has changed over time. This is why I decided to keep most of the old mistakes in each story and why I broke them up via the grade I wrote them in. Please do not judge these stories too harshly. Rather, focus on the memoir aspect of this book and what I'm trying to show. That's what this story is. It's a memoir.
I have worked very hard to put together this book. I did not merely slap things down on the paper. I choose each of these stories very carefully and put together a whole outline of where I wanted to put the memoir chapters. Trust me, you'll see the difference in writing if you read one of the stories, and then one of the nonfiction chapters. Keep that in mind, too. This book is nonfiction, and it's interactive, meaning it is up to my audience to decide how the stories should end. I cannot fit 100,000-word stories in one book. It's not possible. The memoir chapters are the ones that don't have a number beside them. They're also the ones you'll find at the end of each set of grade levels.
Please consider these things while you read through the book. It's going to be a very different experience for you guys, which is again, what I wanted. This is how I've chosen to "express myself", like it says in Selena Gomez's song "Naturally", and is my method of alternative storytelling.
With that said, I hope you enjoy the memoir!
