Chereads / The Star Archer Knight Chronicles / Chapter 17 - First Training

Chapter 17 - First Training

After a full day's rest at the Great Oracle's residence, Friks was invited by Ramala to the backyard of the Glass Palace this morning after having breakfast together. They were joined by Kaytrin and some of the Great Oracle's maids and bodyguards.

"Are we going to start training today?" Friks asked, guessing.

Ramala nodded, "Yes, we're going to start training and preparing you to become the Star Archers Knight!"

"So what should I do first for training?" asked Friks as he looked a glimpse at his starbow.

"You saw yesterday when Kaytrin fought with the intruder, right?" asked Ramala.

"Yes, I saw. In addition to using a staff with a large scythe, Kaytrin also threw a fiery ball at the intruder. Was that fiery ball a magic stuff?" asked Friks.

"That's right, what Kaytrin did was magic, but it can only be done by a knight." Ramala said, turning to Kaytrin, "Make another fireball as an example!"

Kaytrin nodded, took five steps forward, held out her right hand and cast a spell.

"Balseuneu!" Kaytrin shouted.

A fiery ball shot out of Kaytrin's palm and struck a large tree about fifty yards in front of them.

"Wow! That's amazing! What an amazing fireball you just released!" Friks praised Kaytrin.

Ramala, the Great Oracle, turned to Friks.

"Now you give it a try! Chant the name of the spell and create a fiery ball and throw it at that big rock over there!"

Friks nodded, extending his right palm toward the boulder Ramala had pointed out.

"Wait, what was the name of that spell? Balseuneu! Oh yes, that's it! Balseuneu!" Friks shouted loudly.

But nothing happened. No fiery ball came out of Friks' hand like Kaytrin had before.

Friks turned to the Great Oracle.

"Does that mean I have no magic?" asked Friks.

Ramala smiled, "Is that so? Or do you just lack concentration?"

"I'll try again!"

Friks stretched out his right palm again, concentrating a little longer this time, then chanted the spell to make the ball fire.

"Balseuneu!" shouted Friks, but just like before, nothing happened. Let alone a fiery ball shooting out of his palm, not even a spark of fire.

Friks looked at the Great Oracle and shook his head.

"I don't think it's possible. I can't make a fireball like Kaytrin!"

Ramala smiled slightly, "Friks, now try to concentrate and bring the starbow on your left arm to your chest. Imagine a fiery ball shooting out of your right palm, this time don't chant any incantations either. Just imagine the shape of the fiery ball, how fast it's going, and where it's going. To the rock over there!"

Friks nodded and followed Ramala's instructions. He placed the star bow on his chest and visualized everything step by step. Friks now felt a warm stream of energy emanating from his Star Bow creep into his body and then center in the palm of his right hand.

This time a fiery ball of intense heat shot out of Friks' right palm and flew towards the large rock the Great Oracle had pointed to.

'Boom!' With an explosion, the huge rock was shattered by the fiery ball Friks shot from his right palm.

"Oh my! Did I really do that?" screamed Friks, amazed and shocked that he could do magic.

Ramala smiled, "That's right, Friks. Congratulations, you've used your Star Bow for the first time!"

Kaytrin and some of the Great Oracle's bodyguards, who had also witnessed what Friks had just done, were very surprised and happy.

"This boy really is the Star Archer!" muttered Kaytrin to herself.

Just once, with the help of his star bow, Friks had successfully launched a fiery ball that was much stronger than the one Kaytrin had made. But it was still not enough to defeat Leburo, let alone the approaching danger from space.

"What's really going on?" Friks asked the Great Oracle for an explanation.

"Look, Friks. All warriors in Aeros are born and can use magic, of course the kind of magic they use varies from person to person. And to summon this magic they have to cast certain spells, balseuneu is to summon a fiery ball. But it's different for you, Friks! You are the Star Archer. All of your skills and magic depend on the star bow you're wearing. But this star bow also uses your energy. So the more energy you have, the bigger the star bow will be able to release more magic power. But there is another way to make the power of the Star Bow almost limitless," Ramala said. Ramala said.

Friks blinked and looked at Ramala.

"How?"

"You have to use the Sternhyst!" Ramala said.

"What is the Sternhyst?"

"It is a power stone that was formed long before all the elements of life were formed. When the Sternhyst is combined with you, it gives you unimaginable power, and you can overcome all troublesome things. By defeating Leburo and shooting stars, you can destroy the planetoid approaching Aeros by shooting it. Use the power granted by the Sternhyst through that starbow on your left arm!" Ramala explained again.

"And how do I find the Sternhyst?" Friks became curious again.

"We'll get to that later, Friks. But basically, this star bow will guide you in your search for the Sternhyst!"

Friks nodded, beginning to understand his role in Aeros and how to use the starbow given to him by his mother back in Earth.

A glass palace guard stumbled over to Ramala, paying his respects and kneeling before her.

"Great Oracle, we have a visitor!" said the bodyguard, announcing the reason for his visit.

"Who?" asked Ramala.

"His Majesty King of Aeros and his daughter, as well as several other knights of the guard! They are already near your throne!" he reported.

Ramala turned to Friks.

"Friks, we'll put your training on hold for now. We have to meet His Majesty King of Aeros and his entourage," Ramala said.

Friks nodded and then stepped back into the glass palace with the Great Seer, Kaytrin, and the others.
