While waiting for Yumiko settling her business on a nearby building, I came across an old acquaintance of mine. Her name was Fitz Triangulum. Aside from being someone that I know from high school, she was also someone that I like to call 'partners in crime'. Now, what kind of unimaginable crime that Fitz and I had done way back then? It's nothing crucial. I may be able to elaborate on that more later but in the meantime, I was a bit glad that I get to see some familiar face in these new place.
"What on earth are you even doing here, White?" Fitz was a bit confused. "Don't tell me. Your selling something?"
I quickly replied, "No, no. That's not it. I'm just accompanying someone. She's doing business inside that building over there."
"She? Is that so." She sounded interested on who was I talking about.
"And why would you care about it?"
"Oh shut up, White." She smacked my shoulder and after that she quickly said, "It's not like I'm jealous or anything."
I raised my eyebrows and said, "You aren't fooling anyone with whatever you were saying, Fitz. She's not my girlfriend and of course, you are not my girlfriend as well."
She quickly changed her tone and laughed, "Of course not, White. I was scared when you said that you were accompanying with a girl. Who knows what kind of girl that might trick you again like last time?" She simply smiled at me after saying that.
"Last time is the last time and it won't happen again." I told her so.
"Oh I'm just teasing you, White. Hey, you remember the time when I gave you that chocolate on Chocolate Day?"
"That was like, on our last year in high school, I think. Yeah I remember. You were acting like those weird angry but not angry girl. Why are you still doing that back then?"
"I don't know. I thought it would be fun to mess around with you for another time. But it looks like you were way better than that."
Basically whatever acts or behaviour she was being back then was kind of an act. Her real behaviour was more like this. We were a lot closer than an angry couple. As I said, we were partner in crime.
Then I asked her, "So, what are you doing here, Fitz?"
"Just some small errand I need to run and after that I might have some fun or two. What are you up to now?"
"Me? I'm studying at Infinity Academy. I'm already in my 2nd semester."
"I've heard that from Rose. You're her classmates, right?"
Rose, the girl that could transform into different types of animal was her cousin.
"Yup. We're doing alright. How about you?"
"I've been working doing some odd jobs here and there." She said so in a dismissive tone.
I looked at her and said, "It seems that job you got ain't working out."
"Yeah. It's been quite hard for me right now. But now that you are here perhaps you can help me with something."
"Something? What is it?"
"Well, White." She suddenly dragged me away from the street and stopped beside an alleyway.
"Why do you drag me here, Fitz?"
"You see..." She opens up an envelope, showed it to me and said, "I've been...looking for someone."
I looked at the envelope and saw a picture of a person wearing some sort of mask. The person was wanted and it looks like Fitz was looking for this guy.
"What kind of job do you have right now, Fitz? Don't tell me..."
She sighed and told me, "Yes. I'm a bounty hunter. I capture people."
"Dead or alive?"
She didn't say for a moment but then she finally opens her mouth and admits it, "Nah, I capture all of them alive."
I never would have expected that the lovely girl Fitz Triangulum would be handling such a tough job as bounty hunting. I know this kind of thing pays well but I'm surprised that she's alright to this day.
"I don't know about this, Fitz. Whatever you're doing is not...good."
"I shouldn't have asked you." She was starting to leave.
"Hold on, Fitz." I quickly grabbed her arm and said, "You shouldn't do this. From what I see in this papers, this isn't your average wanted poster. I mean it came from an envelope. The rewards is too high for a single person. Judging from the reward this guy probably be someone that is dangerous. I'm not letting you go there."
"I'm fine. Besides, I need the money."
"You can do other jobs beside capturing old fools. This isn't the right thing, Fitz."
"Well what do you know?!" Fitz raised her tone.
Her sudden change in tone took me by surprise.
She then told me, "I've been bounty hunting for quite a while and I haven't gotten this kind of thing before. I never gotten a request before. Usually I always have to find the wanted posters but now I suddenly got this. And it pays me way better than what I've done before this."
"I can give you some money if you need it."
"No! Not like that. I'm not asking for charity from you White. I'm just asking for you to be my partner in crime once again."
"But this is different than way back then."
"How different?" She looked at me in the eye.
"We...we...we capture lost pets..." I sighed and finally told her, "Fine. As long as I also got my half."
"Huh, a shrewd a fella as always. Welcome back on board partner." She handed out her hand.
I grabbed her hand and we nodded at each other officiating our partnership.
Arresting people is a lot different than looking for lost pet. But I guess it doesn't really stray far from what we've done before. I just hope that Fitz was telling me the whole thing clearly. Why? Because I kind of had a bad feeling about this. I mean, something will go wrong when trying to capture a wanted person...
