Chapter 35 - The Bloody Night Part 2

Tonight was a special night for all that bask in the moonlight, for tonight light is of scarlet color, for the very full moon up above that starry sky is not of its normally holy light white color… No! But as bloody as a river of red sands. The winds that below in with that harsh light are as furious as a lion and bite just as hard! With that light touch a certain man's shut eyes… they popped open in a crazy furry that spread like a fire to all in his tent. But man was not the only one to be stirred by that light for the very small critters that laid in the dark or hid in the trees or in their small hollowed holes.. crawled from their homes to meet strangers' tents.

-words left by an unknown survivor of the event simple known as the bloody night

As the wind slammed against the recovery tent a man with crazy filled eyes raised his voice one last time before exhaustingly closing his eyes. I see…so that's what happened out there. Take Andrew to his tent to rest. I need to inform chieftain [author note} Baysan.

Yes sir Leon! Yelled back, a random officer.

Sigh,.. A monster, 4 dead…1 missing….1 half crazed… one hell of a night it has been. Leon said with exhausted breaths to himself. At least Nicholas is still alive according to the life tracker we put on him, but still what a crazy story even the part about the fairy queen… and that herb he brought back… sigh I can feel the start of another campaign soon..

Pov Lanthios

As the red light of the sky up above passed over a center hill overlooking the merc camp down below a medium size rat with teal flame eyes could be seen talking to a dark monstrosity with his fellow monster such as razor back bears, giant black wolfs, rock lizards, blood bats and many other creatures of the night. They stood their mighty and strong with their dead and decaying bodies as the harsh chilly winds blew against their figures. From the tallest to the smallest, to the mightiest to the weakest. Commercial was this seen as a creature as insignificant as a rat was ordering them all around these rank 1 to rank 2 monsters. In a squeaky voice the rat said; go by pretty critters! And as you spread pandemonium; Lawrence! Time the release of your curse of the cannibal that lies dormant in the host with that of the chaos brought by the vermin!

Pov camp

Random guard at the gate said to random guard number two, what an ominous moon tonight don't you think? Yes and coupled with these chilly winds and a foggy forest just down the horizon isn't helping! What! Are you scared, said guard 1 to guard 2. Hell ya! And you should be too! I mean didn't we just witness a crazy man run out of the forest just a few moments ago? Well ya I could agree that was a bit ominous.. I also heard that his entire team got wiped out on their mission to find that one brat... what's was his name again… Logan I believe answered guard 2. Well either way it's got nothing to do with us and the night is creepy enough as it is. It's probably better if we change the subject, As I for one don't want to be on my toes all night... if you know what I mean.

But just as they were about to change to a new type of banter, the forest stirred and whaled until a flock of dozens of black birds {crows} came bursting forth out of the trees to circle around the camp! The two guards just stood by the gate with dumbfounded expressions saying to themselves what up with these birds! The two stooges then proceed to look deeper into the tree line where the birds came from to see if there was an important reason that the birds "fled" from their homes this late at night, for the birds behavior didn't seem natural even to the most common of persons. Guard one said to guard 2 with a little worry in his voice; do you think we should report this matter? Guard 2 answered, no need I'm sure it's nothing.. I mean it if it was we should have spotted something by now I mean we both have been staring non stop at the forest like the other guards on the wall. Surely someone would have said something if they saw anything…besides their just flying around not like they are attacking us…if memory serves right those bird only eat dead things anyway, guard 2 said with doubt.

But as every guard on the wall's attention was placed on the birds in the air they failed to see the dozens of rats and squirrels with the occasional rabbit mixed in, making their way over the walls or under or in between the holes in the wall!

After a few moments of watching the birds do nothing but fly and find perches on random tents here and there. The guards just stopped paying them mind and went back to watching the forest for any intruder, when guard 1 asked guard two, do you think it would be ok if we asked those in charge if they could turn on the anti beast magic shield? Guard 2 answered with are you insane! You know that can only be used in an emergence! It's extremely expensive! So there's no way they would turn it on for some lame excuse like "sir we saw some birds flying around" they would laugh at you out the door and call us cowards and probably demote us or worse kick us out! Ya I guess you're right. It's just I got this sinking feeling down deep in my gut that something bad is going to happen. Guard 2 replied with, look I know you're scared and so am I but let's not fly off the handle just yet…. AW! AW! AW! What the hell was that? Who was screaming? Look, I told you we should have informed the upper brass! Sigh look I'm sure the guards portal can handle whatever is going on ok… Aw help me! Yelled a random patrol guard! We need back up over here! Yelled another patrol guard in the opposite direction! With the sounds of skill popping off one after the other like popcorn. Gate guard 1 and guard 2 looked at each other with a fearful expression, when suddenly guard 1 saw from the corner of his eyes something racing down one of the big hills surrounding the camp. After taking a few second for his brain to comprehend what was happening he said to guard 2 can we get those magic shields up and running now, while pointing his finger at the direction of a huge black monstrosity racing down the hill with a dozen or more other monsters in toe.
