Chapter 9 - Chapter -007-

Tak.. Tak.. Tak.. Tak..

Dug.. Dug.. Dug.. Dug..

Cletak.. Cletak.. Cletak..

Shuhei, who was sitting right in front of Toma, felt a small intersection printed on his forehead when his concentration had been disturbed because of the random activities that his best friend did when they were working on the assignment given by the geology teacher who was taking a day off today.

"Toma-kun! Can you stop banging the tip of your pen on the table, kick the tip of your shoe against the post of my chair and also stop playing with the tip of your pen? It's so annoying!" Shuhei complained who immediately turned his back, where the chair where Toma was sitting was.

Toma, who was playing with the tip of his pen, immediately stopped when he saw the annoyed look on Shuhei's face.

"Ah, sorry Shu-kun! I didn't realize I was bothering you." Toma replied with a guilty expression.

Shuhei also tried to suppress his emotions by taking a deep breath.

"What are you doing? What are you worrying about to make you move subconsciously like that?"

Cletak.. Cletak.. Cletak..

Shuhei, who saw Toma playing with the tip of his pen, quickly took over the pen that his best friend was holding.

"Stop playing with things around you and talk with focus." Shuhei said in a firm tone, causing Toma to swallow his saliva with difficulty.

Glup..

"So actually when the lunch bell rang, I went out of class first to visit Tetsuya-Senpai's class." Toma said in a low tone while glancing his eyes left and right so that none of his classmates could hear his words to Shuhei.

Shuhei raised an eyebrow. So that's the reason why he couldn't find his best friend when the lunch bell just rang.

"Then what were you doing there, to make you look so nervous like this?" Shuhei asked with his arms folded across his chest.

"Eung, I asked one of his classmates where his desk was. After I got an answer where his desk was, I immediately walked over to the table and put a piece of paper in the locker under his desk." Toma answered by looking at Shuhei timidly.

Shuhei narrowed his eyes at Toma suspiciously.

"Don't tell me the paper you put in the locker under his desk contains your writing asking him to join our basketball club?"

Hesitantly Toma nodded his head confirming the question Shuhei had asked him.

Shuhei who saw Toma nod his head in a sign that he didn't dodge his guess, he immediately took a deep breath.

"Toma-kun. Didn't he already say yesterday that he won't join any sports club in this school? Also, hasn't he already signed up for the music club? Why do you still insist on asking him to join our basketball club?" Shuhei asked successively making Toma reach out one hand to rub the nape of his neck.

"Actually, yesterday afternoon I visited the OSIS room and the music club room. I asked them about the truth that Tetsuya-senpai has joined the music club."

Shuhei raised an eyebrow again. "Then what did they tell you?"

Shuhei could see the change in expression as well as the look in Toma's two eyes. What had looked hesitant and angry, now turned into a radiant and fiery.

"They said that Tetsuya-senpai hasn't chosen to join any activity club at all. They even said that it's very likely that Tetsuya-senpai will join a sports activity club, especially basketball." Toma replied taking a moment's pause.

"At first I was happy to hear what they said. But I immediately remembered what Tetsuya-senpai said directly to us yesterday, together with his girlfriend. If he would not enter the basketball club or activity club any sport in this school."

"That's why this afternoon I took the courage to put the application letter to join our basketball club in the locker under his desk. And now I'm nervous about what choice Tetsuya-senpai will make." Toma continued who invited Shuhei to look at him flatly.

Again Shuhei sighed again. "Huh… Toma-kun."

Toma, whose name was called by Shuhei, immediately turned his eyes towards his best friend.

"Stop calling him senpai, because he's one year younger than us." Shuhei said with a straight look at Toma's eyes.

Toma raised an eyebrow in surprise. "But he's much more experienced and more skilled than us in basketball, Shu-kun."

Shuhei shook his head slowly. "Still, no matter how experienced he is and how skilled he is at playing basketball, he's still a year younger than us. So stop calling him senpai. I really hate hearing you call him senpai."

Toma who was just about to open his voice was cut short when Shuhei spoke again.

"If you keep refusing to stop calling him senpai, then I won't be helping you anymore to persuade that kid into our basketball club!" Shuhei said bullying Toma.

"Besides without him, we still have senpais who are experienced and good at playing basketball! Not to mention Masaki-kun who is in the same year as us. He's not too bad at scoring points in every game." Shuhei continued which made Toma silent in his place.

"So stop being obsessed with getting him into our basketball club. Because without him, we can still win the basketball championship later. We can definitely win the championship later as a gift from us to the senpai who are in the final level." Shuhei said while looking at Toma firmly.

Toma put on an angry face again. "But wouldn't our basketball club be better if the playmaker wasida club joined our basketball club?"

Shuhei who saw that Toma didn't seem to have given up on talking about Yuki, he let out a long sigh.

"If you think about it, you're right, our club would look better if he joined us. But if the decision is final not to join any sporting activity club in this school, then we can't force him. his choice as a student at Natsu High." Shuhei said at length, hoping that Toma would stop persuading Yuki to join their basketball club.

Shuhei who saw Toma as if he was about to open his voice again, immediately cut off those words.

"Never mind, don't think too much about it. We also still have to select the new students who have signed up to join us. One of them must be close to his basketball prowess."

Toma, who realized that Shuhei's words were final, did not want to be refuted, preferring to remain silent and just follow what his best friend said. Although in his heart he still hopes that Yuki will register as a member of their basketball club.
