Havok continued to fight until the sun came up and the stronger mana beasts went to sleep. Luckily, he never ran into the black bear.
Havok made it home covered in wounds. He had a giant bite mark on his forearm, his chest and back were littered with claw marks and slashes, the back of his head had a large gash, and it was bleeding profusely. He was also limping because he seemed to have broken one of his legs. All of those injuries did not dampen the radiant smile on his face. "The progress I made with all my techniques was tremendous even though I only spent one night there. Now I just need some pots and pans to cook the meat with. Hey old man, I know that you are probably watching. I need some cookware. Also, a recipe book if you have one." Havok said, looking at the roof of his cave waiting for a response.
A few moments later his teacher responded. "Fine." Havok smiled as he was ecstatic that he would be able to try out different recipes.
The top of the boulder that his cave was in, was sliced open. A split second later and a pan came flying through the roof straight at him. It was so quick Havok was unable to dodge it.
Whoosh! Bang!
Havok was still looking up at the sky when the boulder was cut open, so the pan smashed directly into his forehead.
"Damn you! You grumpy old bastard! You see I am already injured! You didn't have to hit me, you asshole. This cave is big enough that you could have tossed it anywhere." Havok said angrily, as he rubbed his forehead as a large bump appeared where the pan hit him.
As a response a pot, two lids and a book shot through the gap in the roof aiming straight for him.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Havok was heavily injured, so he couldn't do much aside from trying to shield his head and his privates. He curled up in the fetal position as they slammed into him one after another.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Havok was blasted backwards into the cave wall, then fell to the ground and was spitting up blood. He struggled to stand up as all his injuries got worse. "Cough…Cough… You dick! Did you throw those harder!? Ptui! What kind of teacher makes his students' injuries even worse? All I did was ask for cookware. Old bastard." Havok limped over to where he stored his berries and started eating them down by the handful.
"Hahahah! That's what you get, you rude little shit! You should show more respect for your teacher. Hahaha!" His teacher laughed heartily as his voice came through the hole in the roof.
"What respe-..." Havok had just begun to respond when the hole in the room was repaired.
"You… You… You left just like that!? Cough! Blegh!" Havok stuttered as he was mad as hell, so mad that he coughed up blood.
"Hah… I need to calm down. Getting angry is just making my injuries even worse. At least I got a pot and pan with lids and also his recipe book. I'll get my revenge on that old shit later." Havok sat down and focused on healing his injuries.
He only ate enough berries for him to be able to move around without bleeding all over the place. He rinsed off the blood and jumped in the bathtub. He soaked in the tub for about an hour before he got out, then he went to his backpack that had several pieces of meat in it from a number of different mana beasts that he killed last night.
He had modified his backpack to make it bigger, now he could gather meat from several mana beasts in one night. He was not sure which piece of meat belonged to which beast because last night was a blur. He would fight, run for his life, have a beast ambush him and his assumption was correct. The mana beasts seemed to prefer him to other mana beasts, though he was not sure if it was because they deemed him to be weaker or they just liked the taste of humans.
He took the pan that the old man hit him with and rinsed it off as it was covered in dirt and had some of his blood on it. He put the pan over the fire and waited for it to heat up as he perused the recipe book. "Although I have never heard of the names of the mana beasts in the book, I mainly wanted it for the different methods of cooking. After all, the old man is ridiculously strong, so he would be eating beasts that had around the same level of strength. I will check the eastern region for more ingredients some other day. Right now, I just want to eat and go to bed. I'm exhausted." Havok saw the pan smoking and grabbed a piece of meat that sizzled as soon as it touched the pan.
The meat cooked in a flash, "Nice. It smells different from when I was roasting meat, and it looks amazing." Havok let the meat cool down for a minute and then took a bite. "Damn that's good. It is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside." Havok said muffled, as his mouth was filled with meat. He took a couple more pieces of meat and ate until his core was full and his injuries had all healed before he laid down.
Havok's new schedule was to fight in the northern region during the night and sleep during the day. He only left his cave to gather ingredients for cooking or other necessities like wood and water.
Havok did this for six months straight.
It was like any other day as Havok was returning to his home just as the sun was about to set, with a pole across his shoulders and several buckets of water hanging on it. He saw the old man sitting on his bed. Havok paid him no mind and sat down the pole and arranged the water. His teacher said nothing in the beginning as he knew that Havok must have had a schedule that he stuck too. However, hours went by and Havok had never even acknowledged his teacher's presence. His teacher lost his patience when he saw Havok with his back to him butchering meat.
Whoosh! Bang!
Havoks' cooking pan was flung at the back of his head and as he was butchering his head was slightly lowered to the counter. The strength behind the throw made his head bang down on the countertop leaving a crack in it. His pan also had a dent matching the shape of the back of his head.
"Ugh! What the hell old man!? All you know how to do to your students is hit them with shit!?" Havok said, as he turned around with a bump now on his forehead. He looked down to see what he was hit with, and he saw his pan and bent down to pick it up. "You also dented my pan, you dick." Havok said, looking like he was about to cry as this was his most important belonging.
"Hmph! Who told you to ignore me? That's what rudeness will get you, damn brat. Don't cry, you big baby, give it here." His teacher stretched out his hand as Havok threw him the pan as hard as he could. The teacher caught it with zero effort, he rubbed the dent on the pan, and it looked brand new. He then tossed the pan back to Havok.
Havok caught it like it was a precious treasure and he inspected it, clearly not trusting his teacher. He took a glance at his teacher, who was clearly waiting for a 'thank you'. Two stubborn people having a silent contest, Havok didn't want to give thanks and his teacher refused to talk until he received thanks.
They remained there in silence for an hour before his teacher spoke with a righteous expression, "As an adult I will take the high road. You are welcome for fixing your pan. Anyw-..."
"Adult my ass, you sat here in silence just like I did, but I am only a child. I am behaving like someone my age should. You on the other hand are an old man. You should behave more like an elder rather than a child. How immature of you, old man. You also do not get credit for fixing something that you broke, idiot." Havok interrupted with a smile full of mockery.
His teacher lost that righteous look, as his face turned red as he was called out for his behavior by a child and being called old. Havok noticed his teacher was embarrassed and laughed like a madman, he fell on the ground holding his stomach, while rolling back and forth, "Hahaha! Hahahah!" His teacher's face turned redder and redder, and he lost it and stood up and was about to attack.
Havok finally stopped laughing and got back on his feet as he wiped the tears from his eyes. "Ahh, that felt good. Hey, old ma-"
Havok noticed that he might have taken things too far, "What do you want to do?" Havok said, as his eyes darted to the wooden door at the cave's entrance. He knew that a beating was probably coming based on how violent his teacher's temper is. Havok said, "Darkness Dash," as he sped his way to the door trying to escape.
"You aren't going anywhere, you little shit!" His teacher said as he waved his hand and the whole room was covered in darkness. Then, he commenced the beating before Havok could even understand what was happening.
Havok woke up with his head throbbing, he was not sure how much time had passed. His memory was hazy as he looked around and discovered that he was in his teacher's cave. "How the hell did I get here? Ugh!" Said as memories of the beating flashed through his mind. "What a terrible teacher, who the hell beats up a child for something so petty... Hmm… Sniff. Sniff." Havok smelled something otherworldly delicious. He looked around and saw that his teacher was cooking.
He sat up and stayed like that for a while to heal his injuries, even though he did not receive any fatal damage, he was still covered in bruises. He felt his face and it was covered in lumps. A few minutes later he healed some of the bruises. His teacher turned around and said, "Happy Birthday!"
