Chapter 36 - Communicating

"Do any of you understand me?" Brad spoke in Earth's English incase there might be anyone here that knows his language. The four that sipped tea was relaxed at first but hearing the voice of their saviour made them pay attention. They seemed to know the meaning of what he said but the language is lost on them.

"I think he is speaking a lost language." Kent said as he looked at his friends then turned back to sipping his tea.

"I seem to have heard of this way of speaking but I can't remember." Ashea felt lost as she was the most knowledgeable of the three, but her hands kept sipping the tea made by the man in front of her.

"I know no tribe that speaks of this tongue." Brendel shook her head but she kept sipping the tea cause it made her feel relaxed and comfortable.

"Hi, I'm Rhean. Rhean, that's me!" Rhean looked at Brad while smiling foolishly as she introduced herself. She sipped her tea as she looked at Brad's face directly.

Brad looked at the confused trio who were looking at the airhead teammate of theirs. He wasn't sure but their language seemed to show signs of similarity to English but not entirely as it has word he heard that sounded like middle-eastern. Their accents varied which is explainable with different races and all he learned was the name of the little girl with blue and white robes.

"Brad" he said as he pointed at himself.

"Brad Harlow" Brad smiled as he said again.

"Kent Hucky Freud Shikan." the heavey armored guy said which made Brad almost laugh but he held it in as he kept a poker face.

"Brendel Nobu." the Orc lady said.

"Ashea Themilya Oresho Valvin Ezerias Velequar Numerine Garthra, or Ashea Garthra for short." Brad looked at the elf that spouted lots of syllables but all he remembered was the first name that she said. So there's a guy with a weird name, a small girl who kept staring at his face, an orc whose fangs were cool and Brad wanted to touch, then an Elf with a very long name and Ears that Brad wanted to grab and inspect.

But he knew that he would go nowhere with a language barrier between them so he picked up a cup and pointed at it then said.

"Cup."

He then pointed at the stool.

"Chair"

Then at the tea pot.

"Pot."

Lastly he pointed again at the cup and asked.

"Cup?"

The four understood that the person wanted to communicate so they pointed at the three items and said their names in the common tongue. Brad nodded then took out a perchment he made from Takin leather. He flattened it, widened the leather, dired it and made a small book with every skin he got.

So far he had made only dozens but the leather parchment was quite great as a writing material. Brad then wrote all the words they translated and asked for more, this went on for two hours until the light coming through the gap in the cave entrance dimmed. Brad knew it was almost night and he needed to preserve the meat and blood of the giant ape.

"Me go do work first, okay?" Brad said in broken common tongue. The four adventurers were shocked at how much this myterious person learned in one sitting. Then they realized they spent only a few hours teaching him but they didn't feel fatigue after all that three days of non-stop running and avoiding various beast in this dangerous continent.

They watched Brad go towards a cave opening where he started to carry the meat and bones of the large beast. The silence was broken by Kent pointing at something.

"Is that a bristle boar in front of us?" the other three looked at the chubby figure of Bread who was chewing on pieces of meat that fell from the harvesting of the large ape.

"Yes, I think it is. And is it chewing on Berserkong meat?" Ashea asked as she felt jealous of the chubby boar.

"Aww, so cyute!!" Rhean fearlessly picked up the boar and hugged it. Bread didn't react as it was used to being used as a pillow by his master, he looked at the creatures that looked like his master and thought they were servants that were just brought in.

*Oink* Bread voiced out to acknowledge their servitude for him.

"Oh, that Bread. Bread mine friend" Brad came up and saw the small girl pasting herself on top of Bread hugging him. It looked comical but he didn't mind, instead he found comfort having some social interaction after months of loneliness.

"Bread greet them, they are friends." Brad then picked up the large skull then tipped it over to pour the insides of it into a large clay jar from the hole he made.

"Oink!" Bread looked at the trio who was sitting there not knowing what to do.

"So you are Bread, awe... I don't know what it means but it suits you." Rhean was small enough to lie on top of the meter tall chubby Bread, she then rubbed the shiny coat of the boar.

"You smell great too, like fruits and herbs!" Rhean smiled as she sniffed the boar that was farcry from what the books say about what Bristle Boars are.

"Umm, excuse me Brad?" Brendel stood up and did a little dance that every man or woman understood.

"Ohh, you gotta pee. Okay follow me." Brad dropped the skull and gestured for Brendel to come over.

"Me too!" Ashea stood up and followed the Orc.

"Me three!!" Rhean got off Bread and did the dance too as she ran away.

"Can I follow? I won't go in with you three." Kent stood up as he too felt the tea coming through.

Brad then led them to another cave tunnel where it was going up instead of down where Brad went earlier. They passed by many empty cave rooms that were carved in but not yet entirely finished. They soon arrived near the end but they stopped besides a large wooden door, Brad took then in and what greeted them was a large darkroom. They could hear sounds of water and it made the four want to relieve themselves more.

Brad walked inside and took out two peices of flint on a cabinet nearby, he then lit up the torch with wild glue on it in the middle as this was a carved room so there are no glow worms yet. The four adventurers were then greeted by a spacious room with cabinets and even an indoor pool with flowing water. Brad then pointed out to another door inside where there is another unlit torch.

"There, pee." Brad said in common tongue. The trio of girls hurriedly left the fidgeting Kent who really wanted to relieve himself already but the girls already lit the torch and went inside. Brad patted him in the shoulder and pointed to a wall where Brad made a waterfall like flow to act as the urinal. Kent understood as he nodded in thanks, then he ran to do his business. Brad smiled as he had made this room with utmost importance as he always enjoyed a good shower, took him a week to finish this room.
