Chapter 9 - CHAPTER 9

CHAPTER 9: TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE TRIPLETS

"What the hell did you just say to me?" Noah said as he slammed the door shut and turned to face Lorraine who was already shaking but she managed to stand her ground and said,

"What do you want now?" She asked as Noah replied,

"Why didn't you tell me you were back?" He said as Sarah shifted uncomfortably. Noah didn't know that Lorraine actually knew the truth about them sleeping together and she wasn't able to say a thing because Lorraine was here and everything was happening so fast.

"Really? I never knew that I had to report my movements to you at all? What makes you think you have that right?" She said crossing her hands as Noah replied,

"I am your boyfriend and fiancee, I have every right to ask you such a question. And what happened to your car?" He added as Lorraine laughed and said,

"My boyfriend? I am sorry I never knew I was getting married to a cheater in the first place. Also can you leave now? The sight of you repulses me." Lorraine said heading over to where the babies were laying down and making incoherent noises.

Noah was fuming at first then confused at what was happening, he glanced at Sarah who nodded her head slowly before realizing that they weren't alone. And he saw the babies.

"So because I cheated once? That gave you the audacity to cheat on me, after everything I have done for you, this is how you repay me." He said angry this time as he banged his fist hard on the table and made his way to where Lorraine was.

Lorraine quickly stood in front of the babies like a protective mother instinct. There was no way on hell that she was going to let any harm come to this babies. In a way, it was hers and she was going to take care of them.

"Get out of the way Lorraine. I need to get rid of those babies, they are putting these silly thoughts in your head." Noah said as Lorraine stood her geound and shook her head. Luckily before Noah could shove her out of the way, there was some heavy knocks on the door.

"Open up, this is the police. We are here because we recieved a noise complaint from the neighbors and there is a trashed car in front that we need to find out what happened to it."

Lorraine breathed a sigh of relief thanking the Gods for sending the cops here to deal with this as she hurriedly opened the door. She knew that Noah couldn't do anything now to hurt her babies, because he wouldn't be able to get away with it.

"Thank you police officers for coming. Please this man and this backstabber is threatening me and my kids. Please help me kick them out of my office." Lorraine said pointing at Sarah and Noah before heading back to her babies.

"Officer, it is not what it looks like. I can assure you." Noah tried to speak but the officer had already brought out cuffs saying,

"You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. We will be taking you in for questioning." One of the officers said as they handcuffed Noah. So that they could prove he is not a threat at the moment, and they also led Sarah out of the office as the first cop turned to Lorraine and said,

"Don't worry Miss. Everything will be fine, we will file a restraining order against him and the lady. But first I would like your co-operation to answer some questions. Is that okay with you?" He asked as Lorraine nodded her head and said,

"Yes, absolutely. Please."

"Thank you. Now can you tell us your name and where you live?" The cop asked as Lorraine dropped some hair behind her ears and said,

"My name is Lorraine Warren. My address is 4567 Maple street." She answered truthfully as the man nodded his head and noted it down.

"Any family in the picture? Parents or husband?" He asked as she shook her head and said,

"No, just me…my parents are dead and you just took my ex boyfriend out of here."

"So is he the father of your kids?" He asked motioning to the triplets who were giggling and making noises.

"No, he is not. It…." She froze, what was she going to say now? There was no way she was going to tell them that she picked them from the woods, she didn't even understand what happened fully, they would take her to the mental hospital and keep the babies away from her and she didn't want that to happen.

"You were saying?" The cop said dragging her back to the present as she snapped her head and said

"They are mine. I gave birth to them on vacation. I was gone for 11 months. I just came back yesterday." She said as the cop looked at her suspiciously and said,

"Do you have proof of what you just said or can anyone vouch for you?" He added as Lorraine replied quickly,

"For the vacation? Yes. But for the babies I got pregnant there and didn't tell anyone because….it was a rape incident and I discovered I took in, so I hid the shame." She said lying through her teeth as the cop looked at her sympathetically and said,

"I am so sorry you had to go through some a terrible experience and still allow this kids to be brought into this world as a single mum. You are a terrific woman." He held her by her shoulders and looked deep into her eyes as if he was searching for something but Lorraine was the first to break out of it as she replied,

"Thank you. I was an orphan growing up and I don't want the same lives for my kids. So I vowed to be always there for them." She said as the cop looked at the triplets and smiled,

"For what is worth, you did the right thing. Don't care about others will say okay?" He said as Lorraine smiled.

"I guess that is all the questions I need. Can you give me your contact so I can call you if I have additional questions to ask." He said as Lorraine nodded her head and gave him what he asked for.

"Have a nice day Ma'am." He said as he walked off as Lorraine exhaled deeply. She couldn't believe she got away with the lie.

"Don't worry babies, I am going to be your new mum and protect you. I don't know what happened but I believe everything happens for a reason." She whispered as she kissed their foreheads passionately.
