A casual picnic in the park where two children are playing, two dads bringing the stuff out of the car, and two moms setting the food on the picnic blanket.
Elaine and Taylor set their eyes on the kids as they finished setting up.
"Before I had Wayne," Elaine started that making Taylor look at her, "I thought I knew all the boundaries of myself, that I understood the limits of my heart." She smiled as she looks at Taylor and back to the kids, "It's extraordinary to have all those limits thrown out, to realize your love is inexhaustible."
"It's what it's like to be a parent," Taylor admitted with a smile, "It's one of the hardest things you'll ever do but in exchange, it teaches you the meaning of unconditional love."
Just then the laughter of the kids can be heard which made both moms smile.
Harold and Nicholas are busy making barbecue and breaking down the ice for the drinks in the cooler.
"Having a kid is a life-changer." Nicholas started, "It gives you a whole other perspective on why you wake up every day."
Harold chuckled, "A kid will make love stronger, days shorter, nights longer, bankroll smaller, home happier, clothes shabbier, the past is forgotten and the future worth living for." He said as he flips the steak.
"No kidding there," Nicholas added as they both laughed.
The two kids are busy playing Monopoly and Rosie is winning while Wayne is trying to win. At the end of the game, Wayne won.
"Yes!" Wayne shouted in glee, "I won, I won, I won." He said as he made a little victory dance as Rosie folded her arms with a frown on her face.
"Not fair, you cheated," Rosie said on the verge of crying as she stood up and ran to the parents making Wayne run as well.
"What happened, sweetie?" Taylor asked as Rosie hugged her.
"Wayne cheated," Rosie answered crying.
"No, I didn't." Wayne let out.
"Okay, playtime is over," Elaine declared as she pulls Wayne to her, "Wayne, did you?"
Wayne looked down and slowly nodded a response that made Elaine heave a sigh.
"Don't do that again, okay?"
"Yes, mommy."
"Now, say sorry to Rosie."
Wayne looks at her with hesitant eyes but quickly changed as he saw his mother raise an eyebrow. Hesitant, he walked to Rosie who was now sitting on the picnic blanket eating some berries.
He sat down, "Rosie,"
"Hmm?" Rosie responded as she took a bite of a strawberry.
"I'm sorry, I cheated." He looked away.
"It's fine," Rosie said which made him abruptly look at her, "Mommy told me that we need to forgive those who did bad and give them a second chance." She smiled after then.
Her genuine smile made Wayne's heart raised to an unknown level and for a child, it was worrying.
Just then, the parents sat down on the picnic blanket with both kids in between. They started eating and sharing stories with all smiles and laughter.
