Chapter 11 - Alan, Anna, and Alice

"System, open up the map and let me know where's the nearest path to the caravan!"

[You never planted a beacon on them… So, I don't know where they are right now.]

I think I popped a vein. While I'm arguing with the system, in another place someone else(s) was getting the real protagonist treatment. That's why the narrator has to leave me for a bit and go there. Anyway, have a fun read guys!

"Father, I have returned."

"Cang An. What did cultivator Cho say?"

"He held the sect in high regard and held no grudges over what happened."

"That's good… that's good. Anything else?"

"He also said that the sacred land of cultivation was his gift to us and he won't return."

"…That's a shame. But if he had decided, then so be it. Have you checked the three that we specially admitted?"

"I haven't yet."

"Go check up on them, and give them anything they asked for."

"Anything?"

The Spirit Sword Sect's sect leader grunted.

"I believe the three of them will spearhead a new era."

The sword dancer nodded. She excused herself from the room and went outside the building. Because the specially admitted disciple's building was on another peak, she unsheathed her flying sword and flew there. That peak itself housed the sect's higher-ups. However, with the addition of the specially admitted disciple, they added another house. The house itself was robust and homely even though it was hastily created. The lights are on which meant they were at home. The sword dancer knocked on the door and it was opened for her after she waited for a minute or two.

"Good evening, I'm the sect leader's daughter Cang An. If you need anything please contact me or anyone else here."

The man nodded.

"Thank you very much miss Cang An. However, me and my family doesn't need anything else apart from a place to sleep right now. I will look for you if we are in need of something."

"You are welcome. If you'd excuse me, I have another place to be."

"Good evening miss, and safe travels."

Yep. As you had thought. The man is Joe's good (best) friend. After he said goodbye to the sword dancer, he went back inside. His wife and daughter were eating happily at the dinner table. His daughter aside, both he and his wife were very shaken inside. They were sleeping soundly the other night and when morning came they were in a very different surroundings than before. When he was panicking here and there, a system called Farming Simulator System was activated for him. However, the one that got such treatment was not only him. His wife got a Shonen Protagonist System while his daughter got a Myriad Dao System. This was a problem. He never farmed. The one who loved gardening was his wife while he himself was an avid reader of cultivation novels. He always pestered his good friend Joe to read them to no avail. His daughter on the other hand was an otaku. She loved those animated cartoons and something called manga. The systems and hosts got mismatched.

"I hope Joe is safe back home…" he sighed.

"Alan, let's hope for the best." his wife consoled him.

"I'm such a failure of a husband, Anna. I failed to protect you and Alice."

The wife shook her head.

"You're the best husband I could ever hope for. Let us look to the bright side and hope for the best."

The husband nodded. Meanwhile, the daughter was chasing butterflies outside because she can't stand her parents flirting inside the house. She was at that age. Waiting for her parents to finish talking, she played around with rocks and stuff.

"If only uncle Joe was here. Father would be busy playing with him and I could get mother all to myself."

"Cho? Are you talking about cultivator Cho, little miss?" The administration office's elder asked the daughter.

"Who are you, old man?"

"I'm elder Mi, the administration office's elder. I overheard you talking about your uncle."

"Uncle Joe is not my real uncle. He is my father's best friend. Why are you asking me that?"

"Because there's a cultivator who left the sect today and his name is Cho."

"Oh, okay then. I guess he's not uncle Joe."

"There's something weird about him though. If you want to know more, you can ask miss Cang An."

Inside the house, the wife's system sends her a prompt.

}

///Urgent Chain-Quest///

Your daughter found out about a cultivator called Cho. Please investigate if he is who you think he is.

Reward: A new party member.

}

"Alan. I got a chain-quest."

"What is it, dear?"

"Alice found some information about a cultivator called Cho. We need to investigate deeper. Based on the quest's description, the system wanted us to think it was Joe. The reward is a new party member."

"I hope it was not Joe. If… if it was Joe, then I failed to protect him."

The wife hugged her husband.

"Even if it was Joe, at least we are in this together."

"That's right… that's right. Thank you, Anna."

"Your welcome, dear. Let's ask Alice to come back inside."

The husband rose from his seat. He opened the door and asked the daughter to enter the house. When all of them were seated. The family meeting began.

"Your mother just got a chain-quest, whatever that is."

"Pog! That kinda quest will net you a good reward. What's the reward, mum?"

The parents got confused by their child's lingo, however, they let it be.

"The reward is a new party member. At least that is what my system said."

"A new party member? Is it uncle Joe?"

"Why do you think it's Joe, Alice?" the husband asked.

"Because an elder said that someone called Cho left the sect. He said someone called miss Cang An knew about him. Cho and Joe sound similar, and the reward is a new party member. Based on mum's party right now which consists of the three of us, only system holders are qualified as members."

"I see. That someone actually visited us just before. She said that if we needed anything, we should ask her."

"Is she the one from before, Alan?"

"Yeah. It's the woman from before. I hope Joe is safe and well here."

"We should ask that Cang An about uncle Joe, dad! We might know where he is right now."

While the Walter family was mulling over their family's good friend Joe, the guy himself was cussing out the forest he was in. He knew where the caravan was headed and his system's minimap allowed him to find the nearest path there. But the bugs in the forest at night were horrible. As a homebody who lived in a (high-tech) society, he never got acquainted with bugs. That's why this was a new experience for him after the adrenaline rush from being transmigrated finally wore off.
