Twenty five years ago, a meteorite hit the surface of earth. It caused mass extinction of each and every species on earth. From the space rock escaped the radiations and chemicals, which caused some of the living beings to mutate, and gave them uncanny abilities. And thus began the new age of humanity, the Mutant Age!

Although they jumped into a hole in the last world, it was not actually above them.
The world was actually under them. And above them was the gate of the labyrinth. Which means that they were just directly under the labyrinth.
When she told the people, all of them were shocked, a predictable reaction after hearing that.
"(Aura) Which means that we can escape from here if we are somehow able to reach the top. But is that even possible. The roof of the place isn't visible."
"(Mikasa) It's actually more then 100 kilometers in height. Reaching there is nearly impossible."
