The next day, Boye's corpse was found in the backyard.
" Warden! Judging from the skin color and the coldness of the body, it is obvious he was killed last night." One of the guards spoke.
" Hmmm...I wonder who did this. You!" pointing at one of the guards. " You where in charge of last night watch, how come you didn't see, or notice anything?"
" I swear warden, I was on guard the entire night, I didn't see anything." The guard Warden Lucas pointed, replied.
" Why would you see anything when you were sleeping!"
" I...I wasn't sleeping, Warden... I"
" Shut your mouth!" The guard stopped talking, he kept his head down in shame. " If you were awake you would have seen something! You all are completely useless!" Lucas yelled at the guards, they all kept their heads down.
" Warden, I'm sure a color person is responsible for this...take a look at the wounds. He was stabbed with a piece of glass at the side of his neck. Stabbing someone with a piece of glass is not our style, Sir." The first guard spoke.
" I want this matter investigated properly. I want to know the person behind this. I don't care if the culprit is colored or not, he will pay severely for this."
" Yes warden!" the guards chorus.
" What should we do with the body, Warden?" The first guard asked.
" Eat it. Idiot! Throw the body into the sea, we don't bury color people here."
" Yes warden!" The guard replied.
" Where are the others?"
" They're having breakfast Warden." The second guard replied.
" Hmmm...tell them to meet me in the assembly hall."
" Yes warden!"
Lucas left the backyard for the assembly hall.

" Rumours are going round the entire prison. I heard some guards talking about it on my way here." Patmos spoke.
" Is it related to the death of Boye?" Ham asked
" Yes! You heard it too?"
" The entire prison is talking about it. They said his body was found in the backyard this morning." Ham replied.
" I wonder who would have done it?" Patmos asked.
" I'm sure the guard were responsible for his death. They must have attacked him last night...no wonder I didn't see him at dinner. poor Rajah, what will he do when he finds out." Ham replied.
" Those guards are heartless! I knew they won't keep their words. Warden Lucas told us last night, he won't punish anyone of us for Gad's death--it is obvious that he lied. What were we thinking? They won't let it go just like that."
" Attention!" A guard yelled, gaining everyone's attention in the dining hall. " Warden Lucas demands your presence in the assembly hall right now! Stop whatever you're doing and follow me!" He ordered. Everyone followed him out of the dining room without hesitation, leaving their breakfast behind.

" I believe you all are aware of the death of Boye. He was killed last night, and I plan to investigate the matter. I want you all to know, we will find the culprit behind this--that person won't go unpunished, whosoever he is. The culprit is amongst us, he might be standing in this hall as we speak. I want you to know...we will find you no matter how hard you try to hide..."
" I wonder who the culprit is?" They whispered amongst themselves.
" Stop whispering!" A guard yelled, gaining everyone's attention.
" There is no use flogging a dead horse." Lucas continued. " We will catch the culprit sooner or later. If you see or hear anything, let me know."
" What game are they playing with us? They act as if they're not the ones responsible for Boye's death. Hypocrites!" Patmos leaned over whispered into Ham's ear."
" They're trying to act innocent, but they can't fool us...we know they did it." Ham whispered back.
