After resolving the situation in Cocoyasi Village, Giotto and Aria left East Blue. Their honeymoon journey was coming to an end, but before they returned, they had to make a detour to Florian Triangle to fulfill their agreement with Laboon and rescue Brook.
Giotto had no intention of inviting Brook into Bongola Family. After rescuing him, he would leave Brook with Laboon, and he suspected that Luffy would invite Brook to join Straw Hat Pirates anyway. After all, Brook's promise wasn't just with Laboon; he also promised his former crewmates to sail around the world.
Giotto couldn't help but feel that Brook was a far more complex character than he appeared to be.
Why did Giotto think this way?
He couldn't help but think that Brook wasn't merely Rumbar Pirates' musician. The fact that Patrick Redfeld respected Brook was one hint. Why would a well-known pirate like Patrick Redfeld hold a musician like Brook in such high regard?
Additionally, during the two year timeskip, most of Straw Hat Pirates' crews spent their time training and honing their abilities, especially Sanji, who clearly went through a lot, but what about Brook?
He had spent two years singing, and yet he became so much stronger than before. Did he train in his free time, or was there something else to his power that only occurred during those two years?
In any case, Giotto believed that Brook was not an ordinary individual. His Revive-Revive Fruit that allowed him to come back to life after death, which simply defied common sense.
"Giotto, you said that the shadow of that guy called Brook has been taken by Gecko Moria, one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea. This means that if we want to rescue him, we'll have to confront Moria, right?" Aria asked Giotto as soon as they set sail.
Aria had never encountered Gecko Moria, but she knew that anyone holding the title of Seven Warlords of the Sea should be somewhat strong. Moreover, the fight would be on Moria's turf. Although Giotto was strong, it was better to be cautious.
Giotto nodded, "Yes, that's correct. However, Gecko Moria is not much of a challenge. He's easier to deal with than Crocodile, and the only thing to watch out for is his subordinate, Perona, the Ghost Princess. Her Devil Fruit ability is simply absurd and can render a person useless once hit. But she herself is not that strong herself, and as long as we use Color of Observation Haki, we can avoid her power."
Giotto was wary of Perona's ability. Just like Sugar's Devil Fruit ability, her Devil Fruit ability could end the battle instantly if the opponent got hit. Ironically, was they both were defeated by Usopp.
The former was so shocked that she fainted because of Usopp, while the latter's ability had no effect on Usopp due to Usopp's pessimistic attitude. This implied that despite Usopp's frequent boasting, he believed that he was worthless deep down.
"Perona, the Ghost Princess? I haven't heard of that name before. However, if Color of Observation Haki is enough to deal with her, then there's no need to worry," Aria pondered. She had read the whole information that Vongola Family had amassed, yet that name didn't ring a bell, and surprisingly, Giotto knew about her, and her Devil Fruit ability on top of it.
"Perona is a girl?"
Giotto suddenly felt a chill down his spine as he turned to see Aria's seemingly "gentle" smile. He was completely unaware of what he had done or said to make Aria angry. Women could be so hard to understand sometimes. Before their marriage, Aria had was so considerate, but now...
"Never mind, just thinking about some issues regarding this trip. By the way, Giotto, if this Perona girl is so powerful, why did she work for Gecko Moria?" Aria asked what came to her mind.
Giotto did not realize where the issue was, so he thought for a moment and answered, "Well, Perona was taken in by Gecko Moria when she was little. She sees Moria as a father figure and respects him, if I remember correctly."
"Oh, I see. So that's the story. But Giotto, how do you know so much about Gecko Moria's subordinate? I remember there's not much information about Gecko Moria in Varia's database. Are you interested in her?"
As soon as Aria said this, Giotto finally realized the source of the uneasiness he felt earlier. Still, just how jealous were you?
Suddenly, the sky darkened as ominous clouds covered the horizon. Giotto's expression turned serious. "Here we are. We've entered the Florian Triangle. Now, we need to find Brook and retrieve his shadow from Moria. Aria, we'll have to rely on your Color of Observation Haki to locate him in this kind of place."
Aria understood the urgency of the situation and focused on using her Haki to locate Brook in the mysterious Florian Triangle. The couple was ready to face the challenges ahead.
