Chapter 3 - True Origin

Ethan and Jack eventually end up at a clearing in the woods. Ethan jumps around in front of Jack.

"so first of all, you gotta stop thinking so much" Ethan explained as he continues his routine of jumping around.

"second thing is the werewolf transformation itself isn't easy, you have to focus really hard on what needs to happen before it happens." Ethan finished his last jump

landing perfectly in a sitting position.

"Well, I suppose that makes sense," said Jack still slightly surprised he then adds "so what's the first lesson?" asks Jack.

"control, control is very important as a werewolf. if you can't control your emotions you'll lose control and we don't want that." Ethan explains.

"and this is good for what?"

"it teaches you restraint Jack, everything is heightened. you can see things that are far away, and hear things that are miles away. with focus you can pinpoint these senses." said Ethan explaining.

After a while of training, both Jack and Ethan had improved their hearing, eyesight, and even their smell. Jack could smell everyone and hear anything from miles away.

"This feels amazing, I'm literally a superhuman" joked Jack.

"yeah well the werewolf title comes with a target on your back," said Ethan.

"what do you mean?" questioned Jack.

"if someone catches wind that werewolves are back they will hunt you down. and kill everyone you love," explained Ethan

"shit" muttered Jack in realization.

"Not to mention the hunters" continued Ethan

"the hunters?" asked Jack.

"they'll hunt you down and kill anyone who knows you," responded Ethan.

"what do you mean they'll kill everyone I love? What the fuck did I do?" he said worried

"well first off, calm down. Secondly they just hunt us and hide behind the fact that we're 'wild animals'"

"no Ethan, don't tell me to calm down. I'm not a goddamn child."

"yes you are Jack, you act like it, and no matter how strong you seem to be you're only 17. It's okay to be upset, but don't act like your invincible" said Ethan.

"I can handle myself"

"Can you?"

suddenly Ethan charges at Jack

'shit, shit, shit' thought Jack trying to dodge.

But before he can dodge Ethan tackles him to the ground pinning him there. They start wrestling, and Ethan tries to bite Jack.

Jack starts fighting back harder and manages to kick Ethan to his side. And they continue to fight till both sides start breathing heavily, panting, and exhausted.

"let's call this session done for today," said Ethan tiredly.

Then Ethan stands up and helps Jack up too.

"you've improved a lot," said Ethan as he dusts himself off

"I better get home for lunch, see you later Ethan," Jack said walking away.

"yeah, talk to you soon," Ethan said as Jack left.

when Jack got home he was greeted by Elijah sitting in his living room

"hey Eli...how's it going?" asked Jack.

"good... your mom let me in, by the way,  she said you'd be out late again so I figured I'd wait here, I hope that's alright," said Elijah.

"yeah that's fine" Jack replied as he hung his keys on the wall hook.

"look I'll just break the ice, I know I've been M.I.A for a while it's just a lot to take in" said Elijah then he adds "but fuck sake mate, your a wolf? that's wicked!" said Elijah as he laughs

hysterically at his own joke.

"don't tell anyone about this ok?" Jack whispers under his breath

"yeah man, I promise I won't even say a word," Elijah says nodding his head rapidly.

"Okay good," said Jack still whispering, he then adds "I'm not the one you should break the ice with bro," said Jack referring to Bree.

They spend the rest of their time catching up on everything that's happened since the last time they saw each other. Elijah was actually impressed that his friend was a werewolf. They talked all afternoon long until it was dark out and Elijah had to leave.

The next morning Bree wakes up and gets ready for the day. After breakfast, she opens her grandmother's book of lore.

As she reads through the book she notices that there are no details on the werewolves' origins or history. after a few hours, she landed on a page that mentioned sorcery.

'magic', she thinks.

she quickly skims the chapter. There aren't any details about witchcraft, but there is another paragraph.

'Magic is an arcane form of power which has existed between witches and cross-breed werewolves throughout the world, from antiquity to the early 1500s'

Bree looks at the page and notices several different pictures of witches holding crystal necklaces and casting spells.

Bree continues reading, 'the earliest recorded evidence of magic comes from around 1500 years ago when a witch named Marie Magdalene de la Roche was known among her coven of witches as "Madam Magicienne". During this period of time witches used various magical methods to create potions that increased health and strength and healed wounds and illnesses.

However, one witch with great power created the werewolf curse by accident, and it was this curse that brought tragedy upon Marie and her coven of witches and their families.

Due to the death of many covens, witchcraft was lost in history.'

'holy shit, what did I just read..'

thought Bree to herself.

Bree looks at the pages some more; there was a whole section called 'Magical Healing'. The page detailed a spell using herbs and flowers.

The chapter went on to explain what the herb and flower combination would do to help them heal wounds, cure infections, and prevent disease.

'This could be useful' thought Bree

as she looked the recipe over and began making notes in her journal.

After writing a couple of paragraphs in her journal, Bree goes downstairs.

She opens her fridge to grab something to eat and grabs some leftover pizza she bought the night before. She puts the box in the microwave and takes a seat at the kitchen counter. 'I need to go to grans' house, I need answers' thought Bree.

Once she finishes eating she decides to go out for a bit and maybe grab something to drink before going to grandma's.

When she arrives at grandma's place she walks to the front door and rings the bell.

"come on in" grandma yelled through the intercom.

Bree walked inside and found grandma sitting in her chair reading a magazine with earbuds in. Bree walks up to her and taps her shoulder.

Gran slowly turns her head towards Bree.

"hey Bree" she greets with an amused smile. "want a snack? I bought some snacks from that bakery in town."

"Thanks, that sounds awesome," says Bree smiling widely.

"so, what brings you here?" asked gran as she placed the tray of pastries on the table.

"Oh, uh," says Bree embarrassed "actually I came to ask you something"

"what's that?" asked grandma

"you wouldn't happen to have any information on the witches would you?"

"uhh," grandma says confused "witches?" she asked.

"yeah, um the books you left me a while back, I read about a witch named Marie Magdalene de la Roche, and I was wondering if you know anything about her"

"Marie? You're asking about that witch? I knew this day would come. so you have discovered the hidden world my dear, a dangerous one at that"

"what do you mean?" asks Bree

"you've discovered the werewolves right?" asks Gran.

"yeah....I have, but what about the witches? the book talks about witches but doesn't tell you how to cast spells"

"well you see dear, witchcraft has been lost in history. the only way they cast spells was through a pendant" said Gran as she pointed to Bree's crystal necklace.

"What does that have to do with anything?" asked Bree puzzled.

"your necklace had powerful magic in it, but since the practice of witchcraft was lost, it is required for you to channel a power source using the pendent for power," explains Gran

"and that's what the witches used to cast spells?" said Bree "a pendent?"

"yes" answered gran

Bree suddenly started to get really uneasy. "Gran I think it's getting late,  should we finish talking tomorrow instead of tonight?" said Bree softly

"no darling I have to tell you now, I want you to know who you truly are, and what you have been born to accomplish," said Gran.

"what I truly am?" asks Bree confused

"yes, you are a descendant of Marie Magdalene de la Roche. one of the most powerful witch bloodlines ln in history. and that pendent you wearing belonged to her." explains gran, she then adds "you can channel her with the pendant to access her power."

"so that means that I'm a witch huh?" asked Bree with a big smile 'I knew it!' thought Bree.

"yes sweetie, but don't worry you're not alone," Gran said.

Bree smiled happily, "thank you, Gran, I'll keep that in mind," said Bree

"now go, I'll call you tomorrow," said gran as she waved Bree goodbye. Bree left and headed out to her car and drove home.

meanwhile, Jack stayed up playing video games and eventually went to sleep.

In the morning when Jack woke up and had a shower.

He then decided to make himself coffee. As he got into the kitchen he found Bree already in the kitchen, she was humming some unknown tune.

"Bree what are you doing here?" questioned Jack, he poured himself a cup of coffee

"Morning, your mom let me in before she went to work."

Said Bree with a smile.

Jack just nodded his head as he sat down at the table. "I need to tell you something," said Br after a while of silence

"Okay go ahead" replied Jack as he took a sip of his coffee. "what's going on Bree," asked Jack curiously.

"so yesterday I spoke to my Nan about well everything." Bree started saying

"Everything?" asked Jack surprised.

"yeah." Said, Bree

"what the actual fuck Bree, you promised to keep it between me you and Eli!" yelled Jack.

"i know but I had to, I needed answers. and she had them." said Bree, she then adds "so calm the fuck down, according to my Nan I come from a long line of witches or something."

"witch?" shouted Jack

"yes, witch," said Bree as she continued to say. "My family was descended from witches."

"wow..tell me everything," said Jack as he stopped scowling and listened patiently.
