Clive was astonished as he watched the resolute Rebo Bresen standing beside him. The latter's passionate speech had caught him completely off guard, as if he had grown up and matured overnight.
Although it may seem odd to use the words 'grown up' and 'mature' for a Crown Prince who was nearly thirty, a child is always a child in their parents' eyes, at least until the right opportunity arises...
In most cases, when someone has taken care of you from the time you couldn't even crawl, teaching you to speak, walk, and wash your hands before meals, and has witnessed over ninety percent of your life filled with innocence and childishness, it's hard for them to ever completely erase the identity of 'child' from their heart, no matter how mature or excellent you become later.
This can be frustrating...
