Despite making impeccable preparations, Motan was not retained by the Emperor of Clayvo, nor was he asked for the imperial decree that could not possibly be in his possession. He, with others, left the Hall of Zijiu, and of course by 'others' it did not include Bafi Marshal and Sak Frith. The former would be confined to Mercury Court, which had been completely sealed, and return there under the escort of Purple Thorn. The latter would be taken directly to some unpleasant places for detention and interrogation. However, considering Sak's importance, the last part of his life should also not be too difficult to endure.
All in all, Motan managed to walk into the Hall of Zijiu and stride out of the Three Color Courtyard as an 'outsider,' gaining considerable attention. But he himself did not seem to care. He just exchanged a few pleasantries with others on his way out of the Three Color Courtyard without responding to their subtle hints and invitations.
