Ned once explained to Motan and Double Leaf that the empire was composed of nine powerful families: Violet, Crystal Wolf, Hussein, Baroka, Dundis, Fernan, Marshal, Simon, and Claw Clan. They were once vassals of a big country occupying this land in the last generation, but a millennium ago, due to a joint rebellion against tyranny, they became the rulers. The figure who led this political coup was the ancestor of Claywo, the then Duke of Violet, Edmund Breysen.
Thus, when everything came to an end, it was only logical that the Violet Family became the new royal family, while the other eight dukes, in nominal loyalty, took root in their occupied territories, becoming rulers of their lands in essence.
