As the lights of the submersible swept through the surroundings, those figures floating in the dark seawater all entered Duncan's field of view—people, countless people, were floating in the water.
However, as Duncan observed carefully, he noticed the abnormalities in these human forms.
They had no facial features, nor did they have distinct, clear limbs; they wore no clothes—their forms were just vaguely human-shaped "figures" with a rough texture and a pitch-black color.
It was as if they had been crudely fashioned from black mud, like rough drafts of dolls.
Duncan relayed the details of what he saw to Agatha.
"Only outlines?" Agatha's tone was filled with skeptical surprise, "But in my eyes... they emit a spiritual glow just like the living in the City-State..."
Duncan didn't speak; he just furrowed his brow slightly and carefully maneuvered the submersible closer to a "figure" floating not far outside the porthole.
