Under Duncan's slightly unfamiliar and cautious control, the submersible slowly adjusted its direction.
Below Frost City-State, the "base" looked like a wide and endless yet rough and bizarre cliff underwater, moving slowly outside the porthole in the dim sea.
The sunlight that had filtered down from the surface above had faded away, and in the water, only the three sets of large spotlights in front of the submersible remained, casting columns of light. These columns projected gigantic patches of light on the surface of the "cliff," beyond which was darkness unknown.
The low buzzing and the hissing of certain valves adjusting the air pressure from time to time entered the ears, and these monotonous, lifeless sounds made one feel even more acutely... loneliness.
