Chi-la—
Malignant spikes pierced through flesh and blood, leaving yet another meaningless, grievous wound on an already battered body. The whimpers and roars that reached her ears suddenly surged with excitement. Those blasphemous creatures seemed exceedingly smug about their successful strike, issuing nauseating clamor.
Agatha raised her hand and used her staff to beat back the annihilation cultist, whose body was riddled with bone spurs and who had almost entirely lost his human form. A crisp and piercing sound of breaking echoed close to her ear.
That sound startled her for less than a second before she realized that it was the sound of her own combat staff breaking.
The weapon that had accompanied her for many years had snapped. Facing an endless horde of enemies, it had held up to the very last step.
