Nina's focus seemed to be on something very subtle, but for Sherry, this was a good thing.
She had already come to view the seemingly simple and ordinary girl before her as a kin of the Subspace Shadow, and no ordinary kin at that—she was seen as a daughter of significance. The less negative impression she made in front of this kin, the higher her chances of survival would be in front of the big boss.
Nina was unaware of the myriad thoughts hidden beneath Sherry's awkward and stiff smile. The girl was now surprised and a bit excited, as she had never been so close to a real Transcendent before (visits to the church did not count). Her understanding of these matters was limited to books, and in her eyes, Sherry, who seemed to have used some "supernatural illusion" to infiltrate the school and investigate, was shrouded in a mysterious and formidable aura.
