Tara’s POV
Sidus looked so much different compared to the last time I had seen him. If I hadn’t been able to recognize him by scent, I would have never thought that the man in front of me was the same man who had killed Briar Bane and captured Sima and me.
From the back, he looked frail, his once strong and wide shoulders now more narrow and thin.
There was a distinguished knock, knock, knock sound as he entered the room. The cane he held at his left side tapped against the wooden floor as he walked. I could see no obvious limp in his stride, which begged me to question where the injury was that had me using a walking cane to move around.
He stopped just in front of his desk, his back still to us, and I emerged from the tapestry as I watched Victor sneak out from behind the open door. Victor moved toward Sidus while I moved to close the room. But just before he could land a strike and knock the man unconscious, Sidus swung his cane around.
