Tara’s POV
11:45. Victor: You there yet?
11:46. Tara: Now you know d*mn well it doesn’t take 40 minutes to get to Third Moon.
11:46. Victor: Was hoping the roads suddenly bent together and shortened the trip.
I scoffed out a laugh.
11:47. Tara: Stop it, you’re making me paranoid and you’re not even here.
11:48. Victor: My last girlfriend said I have that effect on people.
I narrowed my eyes.
11:48. Tara: Last girlfriend, huh?
11:49. Victor: A joke, trying to ease the tension. Did it make you laugh?
11:49. Tara: Count your days.
11:51. Victor: I love you?
I rolled my eyes as I switched off my phone, putting it in the middle of the car as I turned to look outside of the window at the passing cars and the scenery that expanded before us. The ride to Third Moon from our territory was always beautiful.
