Chapter 18 - Chapter 18

The cold feeling put Invictus in a deep slumber when the wound began to heal and regenerate. After being away from something so comfortable, standing for about 14 days, Invictus finally had a proper and comfortable sleep.

He easily fell asleep, his mind traveling through the series of unknown dreams wherein the settings could be described as distorted and in ruins.

The lower half he cut off, and the blood that was shed remained in the relatively large basin. If someone comes inside the room, they will surely see the terrifying set of things.

A day had passed since Invictus escaped, and Aeriel got hurt badly. Using a third-rate healing magic spell plus the herbs and treatment are done on Aeriel, she had a speedy recovery.

Aeriel woke up and was devastated to witness her lord's lower half sliced off and lying on the relatively large basin.

The silence was disrupted in the house when Aeriel let out a surprised scream upon seeing Invictus' strange state.

Scared, Aeriel took the blanket away which was covering Invictus' healing

lower half. Confusion crept into her head, her mind could not process what she was seeing.

"Lord Invictus' legs are here, and yet he is growing his lower half."

For her, it was mind-boggling. She seemed to be having trouble putting her head in it. But despite her confusion, she tried to remain calm as the doctor and his daughter arrived to see what the noise was all about.

The two were out of breath, they seemingly rushed to the room when they heard Aeriel's scream reverberating inside the house.

"What's— this smell..."

Thorp instantly noticed the stiff lower half of Invictus, and the blood on the relatively large basin had dried up.

"The blood on the basin had coagulated, and it smelt. The open flesh on his lower half is starting to rot."

"Dad, look at his body!"

A phenomenon unfolds in front of their eyes. Their arrival in the room was perfectly timed with the progression of Invictus' regenerative ability. The healing factor was happening, showing Ariel, the doctor, and his daughter how Invictus' body works wonders.

"Truly fantastic! To think that self-healing magic exists! This is amazing! You can see his flesh, the cells in his body forming themselves out of thin

air!"

Thorp's eyes were glowing in amazement. He was so excited to witness more of the process but later on, realized that it was Invictus' lower half that was regenerating.

"Uh, Graciela, you can't possibly witness what is about to transpire. I mean, we can't."

The doctor stopped there. His curiosity had to end because they were about to bear witness to the regeneration of Invictus' manhood.

Aeriel and Graciela can't and shan't see it happen. It will be weird for them to likely witness it occurring right in front of their eyes and just accepts it as though it happens on a daily basis.

So, eventually, what happened next was they all left the room with the lower half and relatively large basin after Thorp checked how Invictus was doing.

"Doctor, you said that my lord is fine, that there is nothing to worry about

because of his self-healing magic."

Anxiously, Aeriel bit her lower lip, remembering what she saw that night. Looking back at the bitter past, the most memorable memory she won't ever forget, Aeriel could not do anything to prevent the execution of her beloved Austria. She loved Invictus' daughter as if her own.

Aeriel was always there for Austria whenever the lovely child needed her. Austria once felt ill and demanded Aeriel to stay by her side until she woke up. She ended up falling asleep on the side of the bed, holding

Austria's tiny hands and keeping her promise not to leave her side.

"But, doctor, I've watched my lord's friends destroy his magic core. He can no longer use magic."

Thorp frowned in confusion, "then your master has some sort of self-healing ability unconnected to magic? Seeing as how surprised and confused you are, I'm assuming this is your first time hearing of this, am I right?"

"Yes, doctor," she nodded, worried about her lord's well-being and

wondering what exactly happened to him.

"Now I'm curious as to what was done to him. I can only conclude one possibility. You said that he was tortured and thrown into a dungeon, left

with no food and water to die and be forgotten. If, for some reason, the torture was so mentally tormenting, and his physics had to adjust to the harsh punishments he suffered, causing a breakthrough in his abilities.

There are cases of people that experienced it in the past, though the numbers are low."

For now, that is the best solution or theory the doctor could come up with. A phenomenon like a god or a goddess interfering with the world's affairs and granting a mortal with god-like powers or abilities has no records in old scriptures and rumors of it going around in the past.

The gods and goddesses of this world only do one thing; it is to give people their blessings through shrines and churches built for them by their loyal followers.

"We can't also disregard the fact that it can be the work of gods. It is almost impossible but not entirely." Thorp added, proceeding to the living room, discussing the matter in further detail.

A few more days passed before Invictus' lower half completely healed itself, forming his whole legs and reproductive system out of thin air.

The bereaved man had slept for four whole days, recovering from the days when he could not have a proper sleep inside the Oubliette. When he woke up, the first thing his body looked for was food. He had just woken up, and the intense growling of his stomach greeted him good morning.

"How long was I asleep?"

He was sitting in front of the other three, eating breakfast peacefully. Aeriel cooked for them in the past few days and took good care of the house whilst also looking after Invictus.
