Chapter 592 - The True Mutant

Charles and Erik, both being grown men, were certainly not intimidated by a woman. Each grabbed one of Emma's arms and dragged her toward the bed. The large bed was surrounded by metal fixtures. Erik didn't even need to lift a finger; with just a glance, the copper pipes at the foot of the bed came to life, twisting like snakes. In an instant, they wrapped tightly around Emma, binding her securely.

Since Charles Xavier's telepathy didn't work, Erik resorted to his own methods. While manipulating the copper pipes to bind Emma, he also constricted her throat with them, tightening the grip bit by bit. Emma's diamond neck couldn't withstand such intense pressure, causing her to struggle in pain.

Two men torturing a beautiful woman—what a shocking scene!

Charles couldn't bear to watch the cruelty any longer and urged Erik to stop. However, Erik was determined to uncover the whereabouts of his mother's murderer. Without any pity, he continued to tighten the copper pipes, as if he wouldn't stop until her neck was broken. Eventually, even the solid diamond began to crack, and only then did he pause, glancing at Charles: "She can't transform into diamond anymore."

Emma reverted to her original form, and Charles Xavier breathed a sigh of relief. Wasting no time, he immediately used his telepathy to invade her consciousness. Without the diamond barrier blocking him, Charles was able to enter her mind smoothly... In no time, he uncovered Sebastian Shaw's entire plan.

Sebastian Shaw had also noticed how the new age of nuclear power was accelerating the growth of the mutant population. He recognized the various issues mutants faced within human society, but this ambitious man wasn't just thinking about solving these problems. His goal was to turn the entire world, even the whole planet, into a domain for mutants!

He planned to provoke a nuclear war between the two superpowers, the United States and the Soviet Union, who both possessed nuclear arsenals. This strategy was undoubtedly a brilliant one, as it would not only dismantle the existing world order but also cause massive casualties among the planet's dominant species—humans. Moreover, the resulting nuclear radiation would further stimulate the growth of the mutant population. If Sebastian Shaw succeeded, in just a few decades—perhaps even sooner—the Earth might truly become a mutant planet.

"Isn't it beautiful?" Emma stared intently at Charles. She had given up resisting and showed him these memories, partly hoping to win him over. After all, no matter how insane Sebastian Shaw's plan was, it was ultimately focused on the well-being of mutants.

But there was no doubt that Charles Xavier could never accept such an extreme, terrorist plan. He turned to Erik with a stern expression, saying, "The situation is more serious than we anticipated!" Then he turned back to Emma, informing her that she would be taken to the CIA for interrogation.

However, Emma hinted ominously, "I doubt their capabilities. They probably have bigger things to worry about right now."

Outside the screen, Erik Lehnsherr frowned and said, "Something's wrong. I bet Shaw has already gone after the new recruits. Emma was deliberately set free as bait!"

Viewing these events as a bystander, Erik Lehnsherr naturally saw things more clearly than those directly involved. His suspicions were soon confirmed by the video on the screen. Sebastian Shaw wasn't merely employing a diversion tactic; he valued the new mutants that Charles and Erik had recruited even more than his contact with Soviet military officials. After all, in any era, talent is paramount.

While Charles and Erik were executing their mission far away, Sebastian Shaw led his elite team in a surprise attack on the CIA base where the mutants were being held. The first to appear was a red-skinned, devilish-looking figure with horns and a tail—Azazel, the Red Devil. He had the ability to teleport within a limited space, allowing him to infiltrate the CIA base, which was teeming with agents, as easily as if he were returning home.

His methods for dealing with ordinary people were brutal; he would teleport them to high altitudes and then drop them one by one. Before long, the sky was raining down bodies like dumplings…

The young mutants gathered together were feeling rather downcast. On the one hand, they had just caused some trouble. On the other, they had immediately faced discrimination and rejection from the regular humans at the base after their mutant identities were exposed. Being emotionally sensitive teenagers, they were all quite unhappy.

Soon, they noticed the commotion outside and saw the chubby supervisor who had originally invited Charles to join the base fall from the sky and splatter into a bloody mess upon hitting the ground. The young mutants were terrified. Most of them had lived ordinary lives before this, hiding their identities and blending into human society. They had never witnessed such a gruesome scene.

In stark contrast, Sebastian Shaw's subordinates were truly showcasing the might of mutants. In addition to tossing people from great heights, the Red Devil was also an expert in martial arts, wielding two sharp short blades as he teleported into the heavily armed CIA agents. It was like a wolf among sheep, and he effortlessly harvested lives.

Another mutant, Riptide—Janos Quested—could generate a tornado. He unleashed one on the lawn outside, and even the tall radar towers were severely damaged by the raging winds. Ordinary people didn't stand a chance; anyone who got close was swept into the cyclone.

One mutant was assassinating people, while the other was creating chaos. Just these two mutants nearly took down this heavily fortified CIA base. The key thing was that they were merely Sebastian Shaw's underlings. As their leader, how powerful must Sebastian Shaw himself be?

Outside the screen, Erik Lehnsherr frowned and steeled himself. He still hadn't figured out what powers his enemy possessed, and that information was crucial!

Soon, Sebastian Shaw appeared in the video on the screen. Unlike before, he was now wearing a special helmet, which looked somewhat peculiar. He strode into the hall as if he were on a leisurely walk, as though he were back in his own home. This demeanor clearly indicated that he was confident, not taking these ordinary people seriously at all.

Even though the guards here were well-trained soldiers equipped with various firearms, with all their guns trained on him, Sebastian Shaw didn't bat an eye.

When the barrage of gunfire erupted, he even spread his arms in a taunting gesture, welcoming the hail of bullets. Among the projectiles, there was even a powerful rocket-propelled grenade!

But no matter the type of bullet or shell, none could harm him—they were all absorbed by him!
