Chapter 589 - Wolverine: Get Lost

Erik Lehnsherr's lips curved up upon hearing that. "Looks like you'll have to listen to me for the next round of questions."

Logan Howlett was a bit dumbfounded. Didn't this prove that he, Erik Lehnsherr, and Charles in the video were all in the same world?

After the questions ended, the light screen started replaying the video. Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr formed a small team and set out to recruit others. The first person they found was a seductive woman in a dance hall named Angel Salvadore. When the two displayed their mutant abilities, Angel smiled and revealed a pair of beautiful wings growing from her back.

Clearly, she agreed to join them. At this point in time, mutants were undoubtedly living in the shadows. Some, like Sebastian Shaw, used their abilities to satisfy their ambitions, while others hid in human society, trying not to expose themselves. The latter group was often very lonely, so when they found an organization, they naturally chose to join.

The duo then continued their efforts, finding a taxi driver named Armando Muñoz. Like Angel, he was working a low-level job in society, which showed that they both had good natures. Otherwise, it wouldn't have been difficult for them to use their mutant abilities to commit illegal acts and improve their lives. Of course, with Charles Xavier's powerful telepathy, it was impossible for them to hide their true intentions.

Next, they found a mutant imprisoned in a jail cell named Alex Summers. This young man seemed to be the reckless type, and he was in jail because he had committed some offense. But since Charles Xavier sought him out, it indicated that he saw potential in the young man and believed he could be reformed.

Afterward, they found Sean Cassidy in an aquarium, awkwardly trying to flirt with a girl. The young man could produce ultrasonic waves with his voice, and when faced with Xavier and Erik's recruitment, he agreed to join. Finally, the last person the duo found was Logan Howlett. This bearded tough guy was idly drinking in a bar, one hand holding a glass and the other a cigar, looking quite relaxed.

But when faced with their recruitment, Logan Howlett was completely uninterested. He glanced at them sideways and said, "Go to hell." His attitude was hostile, and he was just short of flipping them off.

Outside the screen, Erik Lehnsherr sneered. "You know, when I saw your name appear as an option, I knew you wouldn't agree to join. But to be honest, if you had accepted back then, all those tragic events in your future might not have happened."

This was one of the reasons why he had chosen option D earlier. Through the previous videos related to Wolverine, Erik Lehnsherr had developed some understanding of this stubborn guy. He knew Logan was determined and not easily swayed.

During this time, Erik continuously tried to convince Logan to accept his theory of mutant evolution. However, all he got in return was a poker face, which only made him more certain that this so-called tough guy was like a stone in a latrine—both stubborn and foul.

Logan Howlett frowned as he watched the scenes on the screen. He recalled the events and did remember that he had met these two before. However, this small incident had been like a drop in the ocean of his long memory—completely insignificant and easily forgotten. Even after seeing Erik Lehnsherr and Charles Xavier in the video, he hadn't initially recalled them.

Erik Lehnsherr noticed his deep thought and smiled. "Are you regretting it now?"

Wolverine snorted coldly. "Give it a rest. I'm not interested in playing your little games, whether it's in the past, present, or future!"

Even though he felt a tinge of regret in his heart, thinking that if he had joined the organization back then, he might have avoided some of those tragic experiences, he would never admit it out loud. Besides, if everything had changed, he wouldn't have met his 'Moon.' He couldn't deny that those memories were painful, but amidst the pain, there were also sweet moments.

Logan Howlett had long since grown accustomed to pain. For him, finding relief and a sense of belonging within that pain was more important than living itself, because more often than not, pain was all he had.

That period of seclusion with Silver Fox was the only sanctuary in Logan Howlett's long life. Ever since he accidentally killed his biological father as a child, his life had veered onto a thorny path. The suppressed rage within him and the repeated acts of bloody violence had left him utterly exhausted. Compared to ordinary people, his nearly immortal life felt more like a curse, one that prevented him from ever finding true peace—until he met Silver Fox.

That experience allowed Logan Howlett, this confused and lonely lone wolf, to finally see a warm light. Silver Fox was the bright moonlight in his heart.

And the future video that had just been revealed only reinforced this point for Logan Howlett. Although there were many twists and turns, and the final outcome was regrettable, Logan still found his path to redemption. Now, all he wanted was to go back and save Silver Fox, then find a quiet, peaceful place for the two of them to live a secluded life away from the world.

Even without Charles Xavier's telepathy, Erik Lehnsherr could see through Wolverine's thoughts at this moment. He raised an eyebrow and said, "Logan, you know, you're even more naive than Charles. Do you really think that hiding away means you can avoid all your troubles?

Face it—you've always been suppressing your wild nature, trying to live like an ordinary person...

But remember, ordinary people don't get to choose the life they want, nor can they protect everything they have. You must show your fangs, and most importantly: A lone wolf can't accomplish anything. Only a pack of wolves can inspire fear!"

Upon realizing that Wolverine indeed existed in the same world as himself, Erik Lehnsherr became even more determined not to give up on recruiting him. At this point, he was already planning in his mind—after winning this mysterious game, he would return and find Charles Xavier. Then, together, they would form a more pure and formidable mutant organization to realize their ambitions and dreams!

Thanks to the insights from the quiz game, Erik Lehnsherr was no longer content with merely seeking revenge. He now had higher aspirations. He wanted to lead the mutant race—a young, nascent, but incredibly potential-filled species—towards a path of glorious rise!

"Join us, Logan. Join this great cause. Only by uniting can we create a better future. This is your dream too, isn't it?" There was a gleam in Erik Lehnsherr's eyes as he spoke.
