Chapter 510 - Arthur changes

This is a despicable and unacceptable betrayal!

Arthur immediately found the television station, using his successful identity as a comedian to angrily denounce the murderers on camera, accusing them of not only harming several families but also strangling the future and hope of the entire Gotham!

Living in earthly paradise, Arthur had forgotten the memories of being in hell. Shouldn't painful and unbearable memories be thrown into the trash?

After Arthur spoke out, Thomas Wayne also spoke in a formal setting, rallying support for his son. Everyone around them unanimously considered this massacre despicable and reprehensible.

However, soon Arthur realized that normal people like them were not the majority in Gotham. The protesters near his estate were a swarm of disheveled, crude, and ignorant individuals. When they saw Arthur, they glared angrily, spat, and made obscene gestures.

This left Arthur puzzled and angry, feeling betrayed. Did these idiots even know that he and his father were their saviors?

He ordered the butler to drive away the protesters and brought his curious brother back to the clean and bright house. Arthur explained to young Bruce that Gotham had become this way because of the violent and ignorant people outside.

He compared them to viruses, and cancer cells, parasitizing this once beautiful and charming city. Gotham, once vibrant and heavenly, had gradually descended into a dirty and sinful purgatory.

Bruce looked at him in confusion, asking,

"why those people outside would act this way."

"Because they are poor"

"why are they poor?"

"well, Because they are lazy, lazy to learn skills and knowledge, lazy to strive for improvement, and thus they became idlers and even criminals. This is all their doing!"

"But we are different, Bruce. We have the responsibility to guide them onto the right path. It's the mission of the Wayne family," Arthur said, and his expression and tone gradually merged with those of his father, Thomas Wayne.

The butler showed a pleased expression, while young Bruce maintained a serious and adult-like face.

The chaos in Gotham worsened. Arthur now had to have bodyguards when going out, as he would frequently face protests and demonstrations from angry mobs. They gathered outside Wayne Manor, during Thomas Wayne's campaign events, buzzing like annoying flies.

Arthur deeply felt the weight of the responsibility he carried. The mission of the Wayne family was incredibly challenging – how to fix Gotham while living among these parasites?

One day, the family attended an ordinary banquet. Of course, in the eyes of those idiots, it would be labeled as an event of the upper class.

After the banquet, the Wayne family, after a long time, gathered to watch an old movie. Due to recent busy work and troubles, they hadn't enjoyed such a relaxed moment in a while.

However, during this rare moment of relaxation, they were harassed by those protesters. They gathered in groups outside the theater, causing a commotion. They waved protest signs and banners, with slogans like "Down with Thomas Wayne" and "Down with Arthur Wayne." Arthur found it amusing and pitiful – these idiots had no idea what foolish things they were doing.

He thought the protest would be like the ones that happened before – a group of people making noise for a while and then dispersing to continue their mundane lives.

But the situation developed beyond his expectations. The chaos quickly spread throughout the entire city. The mob was no longer satisfied with mere slogans; they began to take action, even attacking Wayne Manor!

Upon receiving the news, Arthur, amidst his anger, felt a sense of panic. The family hastily left the theater, disregarding many things, and rushed back to their heavily defendable fortress – Wayne Manor.

Exiting through the theater's back door because the main entrance was crowded with rioters, they discovered that even the back had a considerable number of troublemakers. Seeing the chaotic streets, Thomas Wayne suggested the family take a shortcut home.

At this moment, Arthur suddenly remembered something and hurriedly stopped his father's reckless behavior. Ironically, he had forgotten the painful memories, but it was precisely the scene of Bruce Wayne's parents' tragedy that came to mind – returning from the theater, taking a shortcut, and unfortunately being targeted by the mob.

Now is the time to take a different approach. Arthur instructed them to find a nearby place to hide temporarily. He simultaneously called the butler and bodyguards, instructing them to arrange vehicles for pickup. He also informed authorities in politics and the police department to intensify efforts to restore order in the city.

Upon receiving news that the majority of police forces were deployed to the affluent area, including Wayne Manor's vicinity, leaving the rest of the city vulnerable, Arthur could understand the situation. He eloquently explained the difficulties his family faced, considering they were trapped in the city.

Upon learning about the situation, both the police and political figures assured their commitment. They promptly arranged personnel to fortify the city, determined to ensure the safety of the Wayne family.

Arthur's well-organized arrangements left Thomas Wayne greatly relieved. He felt his son had truly matured, and capable of handling situations independently. Thomas patted Arthur on the shoulder, expressing with a smile, "The future of Wayne and Gotham is in your hands now, Arthur."

While pleased with his father's acknowledgment, Arthur reminded him not to let their guard down until reinforcements arrived. The police acted swiftly, not in vain for the substantial annual investments the family made to support them. The household staff, including the butler and bodyguards, acted even faster. The family, with a sense of relief, finally boarded the car, escorted by the bodyguards. With the police restoring order, the city gradually regained stability.

Despite the ongoing flames and chaotic scenes, Arthur wore a stern expression, condemning the rioters as criminals who had tainted the once beautiful city of Gotham.

Fortunately, Arthur's quick thinking prevented the family from facing a tragedy. Safely under the protection of the bodyguards, they left the city and returned to the manor.

After such an ordeal, everyone was exhausted. There wasn't much conversation upon their return; they dispersed to their rooms to rest.

Before drifting off to sleep, Arthur contemplated how to save this city in critical condition.

In the deep night, flames suddenly soared at Wayne Manor!
